Australian Ladies Gaelic Football
One of the most exciting Celtic Sports for Women is played right here in Sydney Australia. Although Ladies Gaelic Football has its origins in Ireland it has readily spread to many other countries around the globe such as the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, New Zealand and Australia. It is also the fastest growing sport in Ireland and is very popular at Club and County (State) level. In Australia it is played in the following States. New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland.
Every year around September the States battle it out in the Gaelic Footy Origin Series including Ladies Gaelic Footy with NSW so far being victors for the last three years. This years State games will be held in Melbourne, Victoria with the Western Australian Girls in strong contention for Glory.
Ladies Gaelic Football Clubs In Sydney.New South Wales.
There is a total of four clubs at present in the Sydney Competition of which three are mostly made up of Irish migrant and backpacker players whilst only one is actually Australian and made up of mainly Australians and New Zealanders with a sprinkling of other nationalities. The clubs are as follows 'Clan na nGael', the 'Michael Cusacks', the 'Central Coast' and the 'Irish Australians GFC' which is the only 'Aussie' representation in the competition. " Carn th`Blues !! "
Ladies Gaelic Football Training In Sydney.
Our Ladies Gaelic Football Team trains every Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 'Henley Park' (off Anne Street) Enfield, in Sydneys Inner West. Our Girls meet up at Burwood Train Station Taxi Rank between 6:30pm and 6:50pm. All Girls who catch the train are given lifts to and from Henley Park. This is the easiest way to catch up with us !
