Special Care for Children:
We cannot
tell you how many anxious adults we see who can trace their dental anxiety
back to traumatic childhood experiences. Therefore, it is important that
we see your child regularly beginning at an early age, ideally between
the ages of one and two years. This allows us to detect and treat problems
while they are still small. to initiate preventive measures, to review
with you how to care for your child dental needs at home, and to allow
your child to get to know us, our staff, and our clinic in a positive and
familiar way.
Early
application of SEALANTS
over the grooves on the chewing surfaces of your child teeth protects one
of their most decay-prone areas. We will also be looking at how your child
teeth are positioned and how their jaws and face are developing. Early
interceptive treatment can often minimize the need for braces at a later
date.
The Sealant is a thin
plastic coatings applied in the dental office on the chewing surfaces of
the back teeth. They should be done when the permanent first molars come
in, usually at about the age of six. By filling in the grooves in these
teeth, the sealant protects against bacteria and food that can cause decay.
They may last several years once applied,
but should always be examined
at the child regular checkup.
Sealant is nearly 100% effective of preventing decay in the back teeth.
We provide an area in our children room fitted with a good range of toys and books to occupy and distract young people and, of course, their parents!
Dr Torabi,
the Practice Principal, is very experienced with young children and is
aware of their needs and concerns.
