:: What did I do? ¦æµ{ ::

I put this part here not only to tell you what I did, but also to remind myself what I did.

Day 1 | 18.7.2004 | from HK to Beijing

It¡¦s not easy to say goodbye to Sharon at HK airport. I have never thought of it before. But undeniably, we found ourselves as a team after this incident. God is always the best team builder. At first I was surprised to know that many mission teams would encounter similar kind of incident. Now I know why.

It¡¦s strange that I was separated from the others on the plane. Maybe because I was the last one to go back HK. Yes, it¡¦s true that I did not mind and I found it comfortable. You know, I did not have to talk! I enjoyed being silent because I had talked too much in normal days. But of course, I paid the price. I missed the opportunity to know my team-mates.

This was the only luxurious night that I had in the trip. The bed, the pillow, the toilet, the bathtub¡K every thing was too good to me. However, because we missed Sharon, I did not have a good sleep until 3 am. (I had to get up at 5am on the following day!)

Day 2 | 19.7.2004 | from Beijing to Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia

I was the first one to get up on time in my room at 5am! But for some unknown reasons, tiredness did not make me fall asleep on the plane.

Endless green land, from the plane. Everyone on the plane was so fascinated to see this piece of land! Next to me was a French, I believed. He seemed to be a geologist, or a traveler. He showed his passion to every inch of the land below him. I believe that this is a beloved piece of land in God¡¦s eyes.

What I saw just like a model. A railway, trees, a river, houses and huts¡K Anyway, looking at UB from the plane is really something very interesting.

The airport, Buyant-Ukhaa International airport, was not busy at all. There were only a few planes. When our plane went to the parking space, there was an idle battle helicopter in green. It looked like a soviet one. It made me curious of this country which used to be communist.

We went up to a hill. I always forget the name of it. I began to have a taste of Mongolia. Stones showed Shamanism. The hill was to mark the Soviet influence and the communist rule. What did the communists do here? What was its influence? Without the communists, do Mongolian live well?

On the hills, we saw trees on other hills. They were so beautiful. I strongly believed that one box of those 1000-piece puzzles must show the scenery like this one.

We had a happy time in the river nearby. We looked at the children who had a happy time there too. HK children will never show that smile as they will never have such beautiful river in HK.

Day 3 | 20.7.3004 | @UB, preparing the camp

We had a meeting with Tom, Nancy, Undraa and Chuka. Their opinion was precious to our program plan. You know, we had never met Mongolian students before.

¡§Jesus, we enthrone you¡¨ was the song we sang before meeting. Some sang in Mongolian. Some sang in English. And I remembered the Cantonese lyrics and sang in Cantonese. Yes, that¡¦s so great. Every tongue, every tribe praises the lord together!

We had some buns for lunch. Some steamed and some deep-fried. Yes, they¡¦re Mongolian traditional food but again, I forget the name of it. I was so poor in learning Mongolian.

We prepared the camp by buying food, packing stuffs for the camp, practicing songs¡K After everything¡¦s done, we had the opportunity to play UNO! It¡¦s fun! The loser let me have the opportunity to walk around in the market near the FCS2 office. Yes, the market stinks. Awful! Russian canned or packed food was easy to get in Mongolia.

The following day was the camp. I always found myself not ready for it, not ready for knowing Mongolian students. Maybe sometimes I saw this trip was an escape to me. I could escape from HK students. But everything was going on and I could not stop that. Having told myself to take it easy, I fell asleep, worry free. What I was not free from were flies! Flies woke me up every morning punctually. Damned flies.

Day 4 | 21.7.2004 | going to suburb of UB for student camp

Finally here they were. Mongolian students were here. They came at last. We tried very hard to learn and remember all their names. We played games. We learned their rules¡K e.g. the Mongolian style of UNO.

They brought us to have lunch outside. The beef in my dish was soaked with oil. But anyway, I told myself that I had to learn to soak in other¡¦s culture. We had a good time around the dinning table. Food was not easy for me to cope with. I love dishes with less oil, not too salty and of a small portion. It¡¦s not easy to find a dish like that.

We went to the campsite by bus. It was an old style bus. I only saw this kind of bus in movies. Riding on it was funny to me. The campsite was at the outskirt of UB, 30min from city centre. But I could already enjoy tranquil there! There was a wooden hut, in white and blue. This hut was the activity hall and bedroom for us. Outside the hut was a big piece of grass land. At the corner of the grass land was another wooden hut, the toilet.

The toilet was better than I thought. Of course, there was no flushing system. It was only a hole for your dropping. Because of the extremely dry weather in UB, the toilet did not smell! I did not hesitate to go to that toilet. Only one thing I hesitated at first was that there was no lock! Yes, it meant that everyone could get into the toilet while you were using it. It¡¦s silly for me to bother! Only HK people would find everything secured with a lock! It¡¦s possible for me to tell others not to open the door as it is occupied. Why bother? Back to basic; learn not to put trust only on locks.

I enjoyed playing with students in the camp. Without any pressure, just played with them. Did not have to talk too much. Sometimes words did not work. Being there to play them happily was enough.

At night.

Day 5 | 22.7.2004 | camp day 2

Exchange! We exchanged our games, songs and language with our fellows. It¡¦s fun!
