I am glad to know that on completion of 75 years since 1929 when the Indian Railways Accounts
Service was constituted, IRAS will be celebrating its Platinum Jubilee. Phenomenal increase in traffic
and consequent work load had devolved on the Indian Railways System during the post independence
era and this was managed with appropriate technological and administrative inputs. Challenges lie
ahead and it is proposed to discuss the problem in seminars etc., during the jubilee celebrations. I am
hopeful that the deliberations will lead to useful suggestions in tackling the problem.
