Publication of the Portal's Daily Epitaphs resumes March 21st, 2008, marking the fifth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.  Your patience during this hiatus is greatly appreciated.

During this hiatus please visit our companion blog,
The Iraq Memorial Ledger, now launched at Google's Blogspot.  The Ledger publishes a daily anniversary-date roll of the fallen of Iraq, '03-'06.

No memorial links specific to each fallen hero are embedded in the entries at the Ledger.  Following a "self-serve" model, a sidebar at the site offers links to the universal memorial databases as well as to some of the dedicated databases (databases by military branch or unit, home of origin, and commemoratives grouped for editorial effect in support or opposition to  the war).

Blog postings at the ILM are ledger-like in both the bookkeeping and funery sense of the term -- a slab placed atop a grave.  However, the format facilitates dissemination of the Portal's unique anniversary-date presentation via RSS feed.  It's our hope that bloggers and other websites will republish the roll the Ledger supplies.

In this, the Ledger advances the mission of the Portal in providing the resources to render  every day a Memorial Day to our fallen neighbors, to those sorely missed by loved ones, family, friends and  comrades.

Please visit the
Ledger during the remainder of our hiatus here.  We look forward to welcoming you back on March 21st.

Sincerely,
Martin Chillingworth Longacre
