10-10-10 part 1

1) 1 is the shooter
2 and 3 the "passers"
4 and 5 the rebounders

1 steps in the lane positioning as he/she would to rebound a shot.  (Facing goal!)

2 throws the ball of the backboard and 1 rebounds the ball going straight back up and scoring.

2) 5 steps in and rebounds the shot.

3) 5 passes back out to 2 as 1 moves across lane to do the same from the left side.

4) 3 now throws the ball off the backboard, and again 1 rebounds going straight back up to score.

5) 4 steps in to rebound.

6) 4 passes out to 3 and 1 crosses lane back to right side.

7) This continues until 1 has either shot 10 times or made 10 buckets, depending on how you want the drill run.

Rotation is clockwise.

10-10-10 part 2

1)

After every one in the group has completed the first set of 10, we move to the second set of 10.

Here, the 2 and 3 step out on the wings.

2 will pass the ball to 1 who will simulate catching the ball in the low post to score.

*1 must make sure that they are above block when they catch in the low post.  4 and 5 can help here by communicating to 1.

2) 1 will catch the ball in the low post having simulated sealing his/her man to the outside, and releasing to the goal.

1 will drop step hard and score.

5 will step in to rebound and pass back out to 2.

3) 1 will now run the same from the left side.

Rotation is again clockwise.

Top

10-10-10 part 3

1) The last set of 10 in 10-10-10 will have the 1 catching in the post and simulating that the defender has slid to the baseline to cut off the seal and release to the goal.

2) 1 will turn to the baseline, shot fake, and then seal the defender by stepping over and power dribbling to the middle and scoring.

3) 1 will now run the same from the left side.

Rotation is again clockwise.

3 man 2 ball spot shooting

1) 3 Players
2 Balls

Player 1 starts the drill by dribbling to the spot marked by the coach.

From the spot player 1 takes a jump shot.
After completely finishing the shot (good follow through), player rebounds the ball.

The moment player 1 rebounds player 2 starts.

After player 1 rebounds the ball the ball is passed to player 3 and player 1 joins the row.

2) Variations:
Work with 2 times and get a completion element to simulate pressure.
Place a passive defender in front of the shot spot. (This defender can also be a chair). Make sure players don't start shooting differently.
Work with alternating shooting spots.
Simulate the pick part of a pick & roll.

Notes:
Make sure that the shooting spots are real shooting spots of your offense.
Differently but connected make sure that the shooting spots of your offense are your players high percentage spots.

Top

3 way shooting

1) 3 balls
6 or more players.

Line up in 3 rows 2 at the side line 1 in the middle. The first player in each row has a ball.

The drill starts with a jump shot from players 1, 4 and 7.

2) After finishing the shot completely, good follow through, the players follow the ball for the rebound.

3) After the rebounds the ball is passed to next row (clockwise). And the players follow the pass.

Make sure that the pass is good so players 2, 5 and 8 don't have to adjust before taking a jump shot.

The drill repeats it self.

Emphasis:
- Prepare for the shot, show where you want the ball.
- Good passing after the rebound.

Variation:
- After the pass try to block the shooter.

With more than 12 players use the full court.

5 man (3 balls)

1) Players 1, 2 and 3 have a ball. Player 1 starts the drill by shooting the ball, rebounding and then making a pass to player 4 or 5. Player 2 and 3 also shoot the ball just after player 1. All players rebound their own shots and make a pass to the open players outside the key who are ready to catch and shoot.

Emphasize:
- players have to really get after their shots as the drill becomes very quick
- make good, strong direct passes
- shooters to prepare early and be down ready to catch the ball and shoot
- shooters must call the name out of the rebounder so that organisation is maintained.

Variation:
Play to a time limit or target score either individually or as a group.

6 spots perimeter

1) Player 1 sprints and picks up the basketball from the 4 chairs on the court, shooting from alternative positions.

After shooting the 4 shots, player 1 then sprints to the 1/2 way line and picks up the basketball, dribbles it to the elbow and shoots, then sprints back to pick the other basketball up and repeating the dribble and shot.

Although this drill is a hustle drill, players should look to make their shots.

6 spots post

1) Player 1 sprints and picks up the basketball from the 4 chairs on the court, making posts from alternative positions.

After shooting the 4 shots, player 1 then sprints to the sideline and picks up the basketball, power dribbles (crab dribbles) it to the middle of the key and shoot a hook shot, then sprints to the other sideline to pick the other basketball up and repeat the dribble and shot.

Although this drill is a hustle drill, player 1 should look to make their shots.

Crunch

1) Have players pick up two teams (Don't have to be equal number).

Start at the right block with each team shooting at the same time for two minutes.
The player shooting is to rebound his or her own make/miss and pass to the next person in line.

Count out loud at each point made.

2) Move players to other block and start again for two minutes.

3) Continue again in the corner.
Then move to the top of the key and then opposite corner.

Final one is full court lay-ups.  (not drawn)

This drill teams the players to shot and follow there shot, also by counting out loud makes them very competitive

    Kross drill

    1) Kross drill is a combo drill of shooting, passing, lay-ups, and fast break. But most important to improve the concentration of players.

    Minimum players: 7.
    Balls: 5.

The drill starts with P1(standing behind base line) passing the ball to P2. P1 hustle towards mid court, and receives the pass from P2 by 3-point arc.

P3 runs down the corridor. P1 passes P3, who takes the easy lay-up.

    2) After P2 has passed the ball to P1, he/she
goes behind P1, to the opposite wing on the opposite side of the court.

P1 continues on the same side to receive the pass from P4.

P1 and P2 shoots, and rebounds.

    3) Now the same thing happens on the way back with P3 taking P1's role, and P5/P6 steps in.

    4) P3 and P5 take the shot, and rebounds.

P1 and P2 go to separate wings.

The drill continues the same way (with the one making the lay-up starting a play in the opposite direction).

Note: The middle ball moves up and down the court. Side balls'  stay on their side of the court.

In the beginning when this play is new for the players, to make it less confusing, make sure the first lay-out pass is always done to the right side.

    Machine gun shooting

    1) This drill is great for conditioning and shooting as well.

Split the team into two groups, each group will have a rack with 4 balls on top.

The first person in the group will shoot, get their own rebound, and pass it to the last person in line, who will place the ball back on the rack.

The shooter will then sprint to the opposite baseline and back to the end of the other line.
It keeps the players moving and shooting and they don't have to wait on a passer.
    Great end of practice conditioner.

    Maryland uni 3 player / 2 bal

    1) UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND

    3 Player / 2 Ball Shooting Drill

We put 3 players on the floor with 2 balls to use between them. The first player steps up to the first spot as the shooter. We then set up 1 passer and 1 rebounder.

The passer constantly feeds the shooter with balls. They do this until the shooter makes 5 shots from that spot.

    2) After making 5 shots, the shooter, moves to the next spot. The passer and the shooter rebound accordingly.

They repeat the same action until the shooter makes five shots again.

They continue this through all five spots. Once the drill is finished, the shooter will have made 25 three-point shots.

    On the rack

    1) On the Rack Shooting

This is a fun shooting game.

Each athlete selects a spot around the 3-point line. Once a spot is selected, the athlete cannot move from their spot.

Each athlete commences the game with 3 points. The aim of the game is to keep your score in the positive as if your score hits zero you are out of the game!

    General Rules:

  • Each player only takes one shot per "go"

  • After a player has lost points for missing a shot, the score goes back "0 on the rack"

  • 2) An example of the game:

  • If player 1 makes their shot, the ball goes to player 2 for a shot. Because the basketball counted, there is "1 on the rack" so if player 2 missed their shot, they lose one point and their score becomes 2.

  • However,

  • If player 2 makes the shot, there are now "2 on the rack", so if player 3 misses their shot they lose 2 points or if they make their shot, there are "3 on the rack", placing 4 in a sudden death situation - if they miss their shot they lose all 3 points and are out of the game.

  • Variation: When a player's score becomes 0, they can remain in the game by scoring a half court shot and re-enter the game with a score of 3.

    Shot basics

    1) 6 or more players each player in the corner has a ball.

Player 6 passes to player 1.

Player 1 steps in if he/she is right handed the left leg goes first. Check if his/hers legs are already bend.

He/she catches the ball with the right hand palm facing the ball. So he/she doesn't have to make strange turns with the ball when going up (also this is the tripple threat position).

The right leg follows through so this leg is slightly in front of the left leg. The player makes the jump shot, and doesn't go after the ball but finishes the shot with a good (freezed) follow through.

    2) Check if the left hand is only used for balancing the ball and if it doesn't move in a strange way after the shot is released. The left arm should be freezed too.

Player 4 takes the rebound and goes to the passing group.

Player 1 goes to the rebound group and player 6 to the shooting group.

    Variations:
Pass the ball from the other side.

Will put some other points in a future drill
