The following is a reaction to Dr. Eskandari Qajar's recent speech; "A Return of Kings? Alternative Outcomes for the Middle East" by Parviz Khashaki Dear Sir, Thanks for forwarding the above posting. One thing that Dr. Eskandari is shying away from is his secret desire for the restoration of the Qajar dynasty (and I presume installation of himself as a monarch in waiting - judging by the number of legitimate and illegitimate offspring of the Qajars, the number of candidates for the post is more than the deputies in the current mullah's parliament)! Perhaps Dr Eskandari (whose own family have a long established history being bedfellows with the British and later on with the communist Russians) should be reminded that it was the consequence of the Qajar monarchs' total disregard of the constitution of 1906 together with their incurable incompetence and self-serving interests that brought the country to the state of total anarchy, disintegration and being plundered by the king and the foreign powers. If it weren't for the strong will, patriotism and the unblemished decency of the first Pahlavi monarch, Iran would have been another Afghanistan by now, having been totally plundered by the Eskandari family's former Soviet masters. Thanks to the achievements of Reza Shah the Great, and later on by Mohammad Reza Shah, the infamy known as the Qajars is now only the history. The Iranian youth who may not have had the opportunity of living under the reign of the Pahlavi kings may not fully appreciate the giant leaps that were taken during those 53 years to bring Iran out of the darkness of the Qajar era. The spectacular transformation of Iran from the medireview backwardness under the Qajars to it's glorious peaks under the Pahlavis is among the proudest periods of our national history. Iran's new generation must be informed about these facts and should never equate the return to monarchy with the disastrous Qajar period. The return of Monarchy to Iran only finds meaning in the personality of HIM Reza Pahlavi who is the constitutionally appointed sovereign of Iran.. Then and only then will a new dawn in the history of our country begin. With best regards Parviz Khashaki (Parkhash) Back to emails index |
