While we wait for Brawl, I've got a fun little SSB related project. Check out my signature down there, showing a possible Smash Bros. esque encounter between Stafy and Kirby.
It's made of two pieces. The left half:

So here's the deal, if people are willing to make their own left half of a signature, I'll be willing to make sprite-based animations of various character encounters. Right now, as a demo, I've done Kirby and Stafy. I'm working on (for when I'm not busy), Sonic and Lolo, Samus and Laughing Dog, Wario and Captain Falcon, etc., etc. So if you have any specific encounters you'd like to see, feel free to post them here (just two characters at a time.)
Remember, try to make your new 'left half' match up with the right somewhat. Here's an example.
Left Half Templates are there so you can edit out whatever you like and put your name in instead, if you don't want to take the time to completely make a new one.

Remember, the left side of the signature can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it! The two images sit side-by-side to form one larger image. So if you just want your name with a pipe, or a different object for characters to pop out of (such as a tube from the Sonic series, or something similar) feel free! I included the URLs for people who want to link immediately. Here are some excellent Sprite resources for people who want to browse to get ideas as to what I could do. I have other sources as well, but this is a good start.
