“The social and civil commitment could contribute to exceed the nuclear and conventional weapons in the world”. That said Dr. Ronald Mc Coy, World President of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), in the ambit of the manifestations of the World Summit of Peace Prize Nobel Laureates that is developing in these days in Rome.
The meeting held today in the centre of the National Federation of Medical Associations (FNOMCeO) – representative Organism of all the Italian medical doctors and dentists- constituted the occasion to confirm the commitment of the categories to the promotion of peace in the world.
Hon. Giuseppe del Barone, President of FNOMCeO “confirmed the commitment of the Federation to the initiatives for sensitisation of the public opinion on the heavy damages to civil population coming from wars, both nuclear or conventional”.
During the meeting of the Italian Section of IPPNW, Nobel Peace Prize 1985, the Italian Councilor of the International Physicians, Dr. Michele Di Paolantonio, faced, with dramatic data, the problem of the consequences of war on the health of iraqi people, war that caused an additional deterioration of the health of Iraqi, contributing to the chronic stress for the environment.
The meeting has been closed with the proposal submitted by the Italian affiliate of IPPNW to request to Stockholm, as FNOMCeO, the nomination of dr. CARLO URBANI as Nobel Prize for Medicine.
