TRUMPETER 1/72 NORTH AMERICAN 107A ULTRA SABRE

Another interesting release from Trumpeter/Mono Chrome Models, the F107A fills a gap in American prototype aircraft which has never being kitted by the main stream model companies. 

The kit comes in a stout carboard box with a nice rendering of the plane.  Into the box, the kit contains fifty eight pieces on four sprues, a small but long decal sheet which has all that is needed to model the three prototypes, with excellent registration even the small stencils are just about readable
and minimal carrier film.  The instruction sheet is the normal with a brake down of sprues and a nine step assembly, on the back page is the painting guide and decals guide.

The plastic parts have beautifuly engraved panel lines, the clear sprue parts are nice and clear, but the front and centre peices on my kit have flaws in them.  Hope this is only in my example!  the cockpit is a little on the basic side, construction is simple and straight forward, paint colours are listed at each stage.  You get separate flaps but no slats, the top mounted intake is a separate piece, the main wing is sandwiched between the main fuselage and the bottom section of fuselage which contains the main wheel wells. there is on mention of putting any weight into the front of the fuselage, might pay to put some in as this aircraft has a tricycle undercarriage.  As for the fit of the parts only time will tell. 

Colour scheme is pretty easy, there is only one colour and it is silver, the hard part is masking and painting the red areas.  Overall a very nice kit and a interesting subject.    JMD.
