| How to do Prom for $61.15 Prom is expensivewe all know thatbut it doesnt have to be. Two couples can have a complete prom experience for only $61.15. Not $61.15 each: $61.15 total! It may seem impossible, but with a little ingenuity the most magical night of your life can also be the cheapest. W h a t Y o u W i l l N e e d: A Dress Shoes Handbag Hair A Date (with a tux, etc) Flowers Transportation Dinner Tickets to prom Post-prom party T h e D r e s s: EBay had tons of dresses in all sizes for $1.00 or less. The dress I chose was a sea foam green velvet ensemble for only $.50 plus $4.00 shipping. Sure, its a little old, but retro is cool, right? S h o e s: Ive got two words for you: Salvation Army. You can get a decent pair of shoes at any thrift shop for $2.00. H a n d b a g: All you really need is a plastic sandwich bag (Meijer brand will work) and a piece of string. This will cost about $0.05 for the two hand bags. H a i r: Simplicity is the key here, as well as comfort. Why spend lots of money to get your hair done professionally when you can just put it in a ponytail for about one cent? T h e D a t e: Real dates are expensive; they have to eat, wear tuxedos, and generally add to the cost of the evening. We found a solution on EBayTroll dolls in tuxedos. The average cost of a mint condition Troll in a tux was $3.15, including shipping. F l o w e r s: Since our dates are five inches tall, we dont need to buy them boutonnires. We will still need corsages, though. Luckily prom is in the spring, so the dandelions will be in full bloom T r a n s p o r t a t i o n: Since we do not have human dates, transportation will be an issue. We do not have cars, and buying them is out of the question with our budget. We considered roller skates, but they were also too expensive. On EBay some were $8.00! Therefore, we turn to the age-old solution to the problem: mom will drive. D i n n e r: For dinner, we had originally considered free samples at Sams Club. This is prom, however, so were going to go all out. Yes, you guessed correctly: we are going to Taco Bell. We can get dinner rather inexpensively if we dont buy drinks (theyve got a perfectly good drinking fountain there) and we take advantage of their current specials. For example, right now you can get both a crunchy taco and a bean burrito for only $.89! We can split that and get a side order of nachos, which we can also split, and the grand total for dinner is a mere $1.78 (tax included). P r o m T i c k e t s: This will be the most expensive part of the evening. Bought ahead of time, tickets are about $20 each. We will need two, one each for Rachel and Whitney (we can sneak in our dates in our purses), which will cost $40.00. T h e P o s t - P r o m P a r t y: Where can you go after midnight to have a good time (since we obviously have no friends)? MEIJER! Hanging out at Meijer for a few hours will ensure a great time for everyone, and its free!
