IPD REPORT 2000-2001 (INCOMPLETE) ------------------------------------------------- Micronationalism has faced a great progress. Three types of micronations can be defined: 1. Micronations founded for fun -working as web forums between friends with less than 10 residents 2. Micronations founded to promote political ideas with more than 10 residents population 3. Micronations founded by emotionaly instable people who claim macronational grounds or ask for macronational recognition Three intermicronational organizations exist (IPD recognizes 3): 1. Micronations.org Web forum with good pontential to develop. First choice of new to micronalism as a source of information. Accepts almost every new micronation as a member, hence it has the larger list of micronations with online presence. An online news ticker has been launched to deliver intermicronational news to guests. 2. Leage of Micronations (LoM) Web forum, with a quite small list of members. The new membership system does not work all the times making the life of applicants difficult. No restrictions in new memberships. The suggestion of merging with LoSS was declined. IPD sees no future for the moment. 3. LoSS The oldest (1980) and best organization. Leader web forum, with many restrictions for new micronations -requires reference for example. Probleems with Marketing and advertising, late e-mail responces. The new web page is considered to be very practical. In general, LoSS is the first destination for micronations which wish to be members in an intermicronational org. The following list shows micronations with web presence (98% of micronations worldwide): Achaic Sparta Aerica Alameigh Alexandros Alkiria Alteria Amador Amazona Ambrosia Amerada Angara Anodyne Antarctica Antoninia Antrim Ashkenaz A.R. The poorest site belongs to Nova Roma. Most Micronations listed above are originally situated in US (55%), some in EU (20%) and the rest in other countries such as Russia, Australia, middle East countries, and African countries. New Citizenship rates (application/month) have declined for most of the micronations as the "Applicant per Micronation" phenomenon has been arrived. APPLICANT PER MICRONATION PHENOMENON A new applicant with little or no knowledge on micronationalism explores web sites and sources of information and: - Applies to more than one micronation for new citizenship (so 1 person belongs to more than one nations) - or makes his/hers own micronation 80% of micronations do not demand for macro recognition. They are designed for other purposes and they believe that it is silly to ask for something like this. The other 20% is devided into two parts: - 1st part: micronations which believe in macro recognition as a part of their future but they do not do something about it now - 2nd part: micronation which are havinng goal to gain macro recognition and they have even made maps of their "country", printed passports and made physical borders. The only micronation which has gained parcial macro recognition (by some countries) is the "Principality of Roy" under the name "Sealand" which is located near GB and physicaly is appeared as an old Oil drilling station. Diplomacy and recognition treaties between micronations have been increased during the last 6 months. Mergers or political unions have been postponed, declined or canceled, as a result of physical distances or other physical problems mainly. Online webforums or realtime online confernces have been arranged but IPD cannot see any future because of too many micronations involved. Diplomatic problems have been developed between micronations such as the Athenian Republic and the Kingdom of Southern Sea but because of physical distance, problems have been solved Economic progress has also been detected. Royal Bank from Kingdom of Southern Sea and Central Banks from other micronations have been founded. Moreover some governments have imposed fees or taxes and money has been raised. 90% of micronations though is government depended economically, which means that further development is very difficult with that budgets. Education has not been improved. E-education and e-short courses have not been arrived as expected as a result of the (macro) e-educational envronment. Most micronations do not have ministries or departments of education. ---------------------------------------- (c) IPD www.geocities.com/ipdorg Complete 2000-2001 report should be expected at the end of December 2001
