Trial Scenarios

The IPDL's  "B" will be done on lead. All dogs must wear a 2" flat collar during this trial.

(Each team must pass 70% of the obedience phase to be successful)
The Obedience phase will be on-leash and will include the following.
Heeling in walk, fast and slow motion. left turns, right turns, about turns. Stop and sit, down and back to sit. long down with handler present.(long down may have distractions)

Obedience (100 points) The ring steward will call this entire exercise. (Note - # of paces are approximate.) The handler and dog (sitting in heel position) will begin by heeling 20 paces (in a normal walking pace) will then make a right turn, 10 paces In a slow motion, continuing to go 5 more paces in a brisk fast walk and will then halt. (The dog should automatically sit.) At this point the handler will be instructed to down there dog for a brief time(about 30 seconds). After this, the handler will then be instructed once again to put the dog back to sit.  The team will then continue 5 paces(normal), will make a left turn, 5 paces(normal), will make an about turn, 15 paces(normal), and will halt.(The dog should automatically sit.)  The team will Then make a right turn starting from the sit heel position and go 10 paces threw a group and continue for ten more paces. At which time they will make an about turn and continue ten paces back to the middle of the group (3 to 6 people) and halt, for approximately 6 seconds. (The dog should automatically sit.) The team will then continue 10 paces and will halt. (The dog should automatically sit.) END OF EXERCISE!
There may be distractions on the field. ( stuffed animals , toys, chairs ect.)the dog should automatically sit each time the team halts, How ever the handler may command the dog to do so if it does not. points will be lost for each time the handler has to command the dog to do so)

Each team must pass 75% of the protection phase to be successful!)
The PROTECTION phase will be on-leash and will include:

There will be two scenarios in the protection Phase. Each worth 50 points.

Protection (50 points, First scenario) Attack on handler..The ring steward will call this entire exercise. The first scenario will be as follow. The handler and dog (sitting in heel position) will begin by heeling  15 paces and will halt.( the dog should automatically sit). After a brief moment they will be instructed to continue heeling,  to an area about 10 paces away were there will be chairs, tables, bench's and tables. (there maybe a single chair or a collaboration of chairs, bench's and tables) the handler will sit on a designated seat and put there dog in a down or sit ( this will be lift up to the handlers discretion). After which time a nice guy will approach the team and sit next to the handler (on the  opposite side of the dog) Have a few nice words and then leave. The dog must stay in his sit or down. There will be a second decoy and he will not be so friendly. He will try to harm the handler and the dog must engage at this time. After a brief fight the handler will be instructed to out the dog.The bad guy will then flee, and the team shall heel away. End of exercise.

(50 points, second scenario) Command protection... The ring steward will call this entire exercise. The handler and dog (sitting in heel position) will begin the scenario by heeling  15 paces ( normal pace) to an object that will ba placed on the ground. ( purse, bag, suitcase, et.) and will halt.the handler shall halt with there right foot as close to the object as possible. ( the dog should automatically sit)The handler will be instructed to put there dog in a alert( at this time the dog may stand) the handler shall not move there position at this time during the exercise. A bad guy will then appear in a hostile manner . Demanding the object on the ground. The decoys objective will be to try and  remove the article that is placed near the team ,without the dog touching him .The teams objective is not to allow the decoy to get the object . The decoy will have about 20 seconds to try and get the object that has been placed by the team. If the bad guy is successful in obtaining the article, the team will loose all points. Once the 20 seconds is done the decoy will flee and the handler will heal the dog off the field. end of exercise.

All scenarios are approximate. Due to locations and field size. The scenarios cannot be duplicated exactly. The above scenarios are a solid rough draft of what you will expect at any given trial.Your team should be prepared to adequately adapt to any changes that may occur. The I.P.D.L. will make each trial as fear as possible, this is why the scenarios are posted prior to each trial.

Each handler / dog team who is successful in both phases will earn an International Protection Dog League (IPDL) "B" Title!
