so a lot has happened in the last ten days. our basketball team beat the other fisher b team in a 5 overtime game. it was the greatest game i have ever been involved in, and we should have an article in the beverly review about it. the past two weekends have been spent in the southern subarbs. jeff had two parties in the last week. each party ended at about 5am so i have been very tired lately. went to the rice v. providence game in new lenox. brother rice's students section had "were going for 2", we won last year on a 2 point conversion. rice was beating the celtics pretty easily until the end. they scored two td's in the fourth quarter to come back to within one point. instead of going for the field goal to tie they went for two. that was a bad decision for providence because they got stuffed on the one. way to go crusaders! go iowa, beat michigan today on our march to the rose bowl. my national championship dreams were broken last week as we lost big to arizona state. it was a good thing i wasn't able to see the game on tv.
a good lesson to anyone visiting wrigley field, don't touch the ivy. while sitting in the bleacher seats with my dad, sean and a friend of his the cubs were losing by 7 to the marlins in the 8th. my brother and friend decide to go down to the first row of the bleach to watch the inning. the next thing i know sean and friend come back up to sit with us. then a security guard comes up and tells us we have to leave the park. why? sean's friend reached over the basket in right field and ripped a piece of ivy of the wall. we all had a laugh and left the park peacefully. it was the first time i have ever got the boot from a sporting event. lets hope next time the cubs are winning and we don't get kicked out. last saturday tom and i coached our basketball team to their first win. the girls have been scoring a lot of hoops and playing great ball. on tuesday we almost be the undefeated team in the league. last friday was spent saying goodbye to yet another coworker who left our group. we spent a few hours at the bar across from my work drinking towers of beer. then i went up to jim and tim's apartment and out to the german american festival. it was a good time, i also suggest not drinking on the train or jumping turnstiles. after the festival we went to a party at a teammate of the softball team. it was a great night with a lot of running around.
so i made a decision and decided to stick with the place i am temping at now instead of working for the radio station. i sorted out all the good and bad with the two jobs and i liked where i was at. plus there is room to move and the job is a good learning experience. happy birthday to my brother sean! i can not believe he is now in high school and 15 years old. gess, next year he is going to be able to drive. that is a scary thought. the girl's basketball team that tom and i coach had a few crushing losses in the past week. we have lost our last three games buy one point. its great to see them starting to get the offense and defenses we taught them. i think it is only a game or two before we hit a winning streak. congrats to iowa on beating down kent state. that is one down on the way to our national championship. oh yes, we are going to win it all this year. . . . s e p t e m b e r © 2 0 0 4 . . . |
