with katie (sis) back from carthage for the weekend it time to go downtown. friday we headed to the city to walk around and shop a little. only one problem it was pouring rain! we still left with no coats or any umbrellas (smart of us right). we found some cheap umbrellas though at t.j. max, thank goodness for cheap retail. after the max we headed down michigan to see mary mishka at borders. it was nice to chat with her for a little while. i hate visiting people at work, not a good setting for a long conversation.

on saturday tom, sean and i went to the soldier field re-dedication ceremony. i have been waiting to see how the stadium turned out for the longest time. i was like a kid in a candy store. tom made the comment that we looked like tourist. i was the prime time tourist with my digital camera out taking shots of everything i could find. i think its a great stadium inside and out. the idea of a stadium within a park was also well done. there are bike paths all over the place, a childrens plaground and many war memorials.

interview 2 with enterprise car rental was today. it is the greatest feeling when you walk out of an interview knowing things went well. hopefully i will be contacted for a round 3. i was at the oak lawn branch where i bumped into bill graines, fellow br. rice grad of '99. turns out he has been working as a management trainee for the last 3 months. it was nice to see a friendly face, altough it took a little time to match a face with the name.

lately i find myself so bored that i walk 4 miles a day. yes, that is healthy but home is so boring. although it is a blast to watch the wade robinson project daily, please save me.

something to think about today: how does hillary duff have the number 1 album in america right now?

the last official day of summer is today, yeah! i am a big fan of the colder weather months. today is a nice end to summer, its 63 outside. tj gave me the weather report of the land down under and it is starting to heat up. i would love to head back for a month.

i looked at the paper today to see niu is #20 in the ap poll and #22 in the espn poll. iowa cracked the top ten coming in at #9, go hawks!

another sign that it is time to change seasons is the start of preseason nhl hockey. i kept my faceless student id to keep getting my cheap discount on tickets. hopefully the blackhawks can do better than last season.

oh ya i forgot to tell my funny story about friday night at the club. i decided to wear i nice light blue long sleeve dress shirt with jeans. ok i know you are all wondering what is so funny about that. well when kristen (jeff's girlfriend) and i got to jeff's house i went to the door to get him. jeff comes out wearing non orther than a light blue dress shirt with blue jeans. kristen and joanie got a good laugh out of it. this is not the first time this has happened. back in highschool jeff, john, and i went up to the frosted mug to get some food. when we walked it someone yelled hey look its john and the striped sweater and khaki pants gangs. yes all three of us were in identical striped sweaters and baggy jnco pants. non of this was planned it just happened. jeff and i made an effort to always have one of the girls stand between us so we didn't look like twins.

ohhh nelly! how about those northern illinois huskies! it is the first time in my life that niu will be ranked in the top 25. the rumor mills had them making the polls at #22.

congrats to iowa who were able to totally dominate the #16 arizona state offense. iowa was able to show the nation why our defense is ranked fourth in the nation. to all my illini friends, did illinois win against a buster non ranked cal team? no they didn't.

speaking of illinois my interviewer at enterprise was a grad at the lovely school. he had to make the many refrences of how iowa sucks compared to u of i. i through in a few jabs about how illinois has been at football the last few years. it was a great interview, and i made it to the second round.

this weekend was spent hanging out with jeff, kristen, and joanie. friday night we all headed out to downers grove to some club called riprocks or something. it was pretty broke and empty. after a beer and a shot we headed out to schaumburg and the alumni club. jeff almost got us turned away with his baggy frayed jeans, but we were able to get in. i always find it wierd to see older people in their 50s at a club. i always think they should be in bed or watching their kids. the alumni club was a blast, good music and cheap drinks.

the next morning i woke up to egos at jeff's and then headed downtown with him and kristen to meet danny katz (i think that was his name). he was the gold medalist snowboarder at the salt lake city olympics. i got a cool quicksilver promotion hat for free.

congrats to tj who passed his driving exam in australia on only his second test. i know i couldn't do it. i got a 25 out of 75 on the australian national drivers test show. good on ya tj!

also check out the quotes page for some new quotes from the night of clubbing.

this past week has been a blur. one minute i had no job interviews and now i have one friday with another company considering my resume. i love you monster.com! i have also thought my future couple years out and would love to get a job in the airlines industry for a few years. i figure i love to travel and you get hooked up with free plane tickets if you have a good airlines. hopefully something worth while comes my way. friday though the interview is with enterprise car rental to join their managemnet trainee program. we will see what happens.

this week has been a little rush to get a suit and shoes. i was able to get some nice stuff at one hell of a price. i guess its time to dress for success.

i have a new favorite tv show, the brendan leonard show (on abc family). i love the really dry sense of humor those kids have. it is also nice to watch a show that i could production work on easily.

also i have to say hi to tilly and tim koelling! i hope the white sox beat up the twins in the last game...its horrible that we have already lost two. i would also like to say i would rather see the twins than the royals in the playoffs.

i love running into random people sometime, and in this little city of chicago it happens a lot. yeah right. while downtown i wanted to see if i could buy some jacobs creek at this liquor store sam's on north avenue. tom and i walked in and asked the first person for help, who was that person? none other than julie dion! i have not talked to her in probably a year. it is never a suprise to run into an aqua person some where in chicago.

while on the downtown run we decided to drive down lake shore drive to see the new soldier field. i keep hearing so many people rag on this new design. ok to some it might look like the toliet bowl or space ship, but it is not. i love the design and seing it all lite up at night is a pretty awesome sight. i think it looks nice and modern (for some reason i am in a mordern type of design thing). this is the new millenium and lohan and associates took a risk. if you hate it drive by it at night in person and stop just looking at pictures.

also i redesigned some pictures on the australia/new zealand main page, so check it out.

i just found that distrubing news on the internet today, wesley willis dead, it can't be! my freshman year roommate introduced me to the funny songs of wesley. my favorite was rock and roll mc donalds or they through me out of church. it was the music that was so bad it was classic. my love of wesley willis music was apparent on my shows at krui. even when i was not a dj i would request a wesley song before i read my news reports. rock on wesley willis chicago and the world will miss you.

congrats andy roddick on your first grand slam! it was nice to see that america has a bright future in mens tennis. it made me actually excited to watch mens tennis now that someone can average 137mph on first serve.

thought of the day: did you know that the wnba still plays basketball? last night as i was flipping through the networks when i saw the wnba playoffs on telemundo. i thought to myself i don't think any of my friends can name all the teams, 4 of the head coaches, or 12 players. try it without looking at espn.com, wnba.com, or any other internet site.

the cubs and sox are in first place!! can it get any better for the city of chicago? after years of being labeled the worst sports city the last few years it is nice to be on the rise. the bulls should make the playoffs, the bears and hawks will still stink, and the fire is in first place for mls. so 3 of 5 is not bad at all.

iowa layed the smack down on yet another division one team, given it was buffulo. also i will give a thumbs up to niu they are ranked 28 and 30 now in the seperate polls.

HAPPY 14th BIRHTDAY SEAN!!! wow, he is half way to being 28, scarry!

this morning tom and i headed out to his old high school stomping grounds of st. ignatius. it was their highschool's first football game in 40 years. i was impressed to see their new field has the new field turf that is like real grass. ignatius ended up beating leo 36 to 0. after the game was free food, what a great deal! while we were eating an alumni photographer was taking group photos for either the year book or an alumni newsletter. they came to our group where i was photographed with the 4 other iggy alums. now i graduated from brother rice, but i decided to play the role of kevin brazel. i figure he should be mentioned with his friends even though he was in macomb.

another great day in chicago. i swear right after labor day it started to feel more like fall. i can't wait for the cold weather!

has anyone else noticed that the spanish speaking channels of telemundo and univision are showing some great movies. it pains me to flip through the networks and see nothing but garbage. then i see a gem like teen wolf and have it on telemundo where i understand 4 or 5 words. can't upn or the wb pick up the slack and show teen wolf every once and a while.

stupid fact of the day: at the end of the movie teen wolf during the celebration after the big basketball victory look for the girl with the red sweater. she will still be in the bleachers on the upper left-center part of the screen. what is so funny about the girl in the red sweater? i guess she didn't know that her fly was unbutton an makes it painfully obvious that she is buttoning it back up. it begs people to ask the question how did she not notice it was unbotton before they were shooting? it happens right before the roll of the credits. this fact has been pointed out to mitch and i while in australia by renae. jeff, kristen, joanie, jerry, craig and i have all witnessed the funniest moment in teen wolf. rent it and laugh!

another note i just moved some of the old pics into an archive so it should speed up loading time on the site. check out the old pics.

yes, after a month or two of delay it is finally done. it took many boring hours of renaming and uploading pics but it is done. so check it out.

today was spent working on the job search, i sent out 5 more resumes and am trying to put out another 15 by the days end. i have developed a dislike for the online personality tests that some corporations require. they ask the same freaking questions over and over. there has to be a better way to judge a persons personality than asking the same question 4 times.

last night tom, i and his buddy phil went to the sox game. what a great deal! we got bleacher tickets for 10 dollars over the internet. sadly the white sox lost to boston 2-1. that brings the white sox to a record of 0 wins and 3 losses while i have been in attendance. i should stop going to games if i want to see them in the playoffs.

looking for something unique to do in chicago? october 24th and 25th the city will be playing the movie psycho for 2 dollars. the unique part is that the movie will be shown both nights at the new soldier field. the city felt that this would be a good way to show off the stadium to those of us who could not afford the psl for season tickets.
