for the first time in my life i can say i ate a deep fried turkey. siv masterfully cooked a 12 pound turkey for 6 people. tim, doyle and i had the first crack at the turkey and nearly finished the bird by the time pete and his sis got there. after having a deep fried turkey i don't know if i can go back to the normal oven baked turkey. i think i must of had at least 3 pounds to eat tonight. also instead of gravy we busted out some sweet baby ray's bbq sauce, oh it was so good.
last night i took a 22 dollar hit at harrah's casino in east chicago. doyle was our only winner walking out with a nice hand full of cash. i am on a bad streak with after my horse took a fall in the arlington million costing me 50 bucks. it was a good night although the loss of cash. we got to see an african american elvis in the lobby, he was fantastic.
earlier friday, katie (sis) and i went up to the plaza to catch a ride on the plaza's holly trolley which is new this year. it really put me in the christmas mood, our driver was hysterical. we both received 20% off gift cards to carson pierre scott's for being only the 8th people to ride the trolley. in a few weeks i think katie, sean and i are going to get our picture taken with santa up at the plaza.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! yes, it is that time of year to eat until you expand your waist a few more inches. today i noticed that i have friends all over the world that are missing out on this great day. tj and renae in australia also tony, stacy and holly. katie tully who is studying in chile. my old neighbor at the happiness hotel jen batt is now in london. i also would like to wish my friends who have now spread out around the usa. my tv production gang from iowa now has people living in arizona, illinois, indiana, minnesota, and iowa. so although everyone is so spread out i hope you have a great day!

this morning i awoke to a nice suprise, the first snow fall of the season. there is only a light dusting on the ground right, but there is snow around. yesterday c mitch and i watched the chicago fire fall in their bid to win the mls cup. they had a great team but just missed to many scoring chances. last friday we also headed out to brother rice to see the crusaders take on the porters of lockport for a chance at the state finals. the crusaders shot themselves in the foot but making to many mistakes. it seems rice is always so close to winning state championships but they can never win the big one.

rain, rain, go away come back some other day i don't have a job interview! seriously, it is pouring outside and i just had to walk 5 blocks from the brown line to michigan ave. it was so bad that i could swear my umbrella was not even working, i kept feeling drops on my head. oh well the interview went well and my resume is being forwarded to departments within the company. thanks again katie lynch for sending them my resume!

i must start this log by reviewing all the latest sports events that happened last week. first off australia came up big in the semi-finals of the rwc by beating the all blacks of new zealand 22-10. tj stated that it was the greatest sporting match he has ever seen. good on ya wallabies, take home the cup! the chicago fire also advanced to the mls cup against the san jose earthquake. i hope the fire bring make it a clean sweep and bring chicago a championship that it deserves. br. rice was able to win its quaterfinal football game coming back from 18 points down. rice takes on lockport this weekend for a chance to play in the state final.
this weekend i was out in iowa city catching the final home game for the hawkeyes. it was a great game, i left when we were up 40-6 with seven minutes to go. the team looked good, it reminded me a lot of last year. this weekend i also got to see little gavin who now smiles when ever any cameras are in front of him. he is one cool kid. i must also thank chuck and camille for there thanksgiving dinner. i love having multiple turkey dinners in one month.

door to freaking door sales! yes, that is what i kept saying in my head as i had my second interview with a marketing company. this company for your second interview lets you job shadow someone that has been working there for a while. i got this really nice gal that is a hell of a sale person (although she didn't sell anything while i was there). you would think that buisness owners would go nuts at these "solicitors", but no only 5 or 6 people got pist off. i swear i walked around the entire north end of the city yesterday. i was offered to take a 2 week training job with them but said no. even though i am jobless i still said no. it was just not for me i told them at the final interview at the end of the day. jeanette and brad have told me that these things are all over the place.
i have to thank katie lynch for doing me a huge favor and forwarding my resume to hr at her work. she went out of her way and for that she is the greatest.
in non work news, what a great rugby world cup semi-final! the wallabies are taking on the all blacks for a chance at the webb ellis cup! go the wallabies!!

another busy weekend which should spill over to this week. friday night siv and i headed out to meet the thomas brothers at kevin's apartment in forest park for a leukemia fundraiser at molly malone's (a bar, not the gal i worked with at aqua). there was a great cover band playing a couple u2 songs and the place was packed with future doctors of the world. it was great to see don and kevin, the last time i ran into them was last year at a tailgate party fot he nd v. rutgers game.
saturday was spent going to church and then dinner with mary pat, charlie, bill and grandma. i was also lucky enought to run into mkb at church. you never know who will be at st. margrets saturday night mass.
today was a blast, ole, ole, ole, ole, fire! fire! yes, i went to the chicago fire playoff game with siv, mike, and doyle. turns out siv had the hook up for free tickets, his friend is an athletic trainer with the team. our seats were 100 level 16 rows off the field, simply unreal. we were all able to sneak into the cadillac club at the end of the game to catch the bears loss on the flat screen tv at the bar. the fire kicked some dc united ass and now are one game away from the mls championship.
tomorrow i have two job interviews, hopefully one of them goes well.
congrats on a good soccer season to the br. rice crusaders finishing 4th in state!

if anyone goes to see the new matrix the final scene is clearly shot in sydney's botanical garden. all they did was create some cg graphics where the sydney harbour bridge is. they were nice enough to keep my two favorite buildings in the scene. i must say the movie is better than all the bad press it has gotten lately. the end fight scene is amazing.

recently i watched a show about p. diddy's quest to run the new york city marathon. while watching it i thought back to the movie rocky 4 (the one where he fights the russian). p. diddy's trainning reminded me a lot of the russians. i think a good percentage of people could run a marathon if they had a personal trainning staff of doctors, shoe designers, and the use of advance running technology. after watching one of my roommates train for the chicago marathon i could only wonder if he had all that technology if he could have won the marathon. then again the russian couldn't beat rocky with all the high tech crap he had.
what is with the new phrase in sports, cowboy up. it was used a lot with the boston red sox this year. trot nixon claimed that they had a team of cowboys that had step up to meet the challenge. now it is being used all over sports center, for some reason this bugs the hell out of me. to many players are over paid bums, the exact opposite of a cowboy.
congrats to ozzie guillen on being named manager of the chicago white sox. hopefully this brings us a step closer to the all chicago world series.

last weekend was the first time i have been back to iowa city since graduation, and nothing has changed. although there are new building going up and almost all the people i know are gone, it is pretty much the same. the football team still kicks ass and i am sure the basketball team will be nit bound. it was nice to be back and even nicer not to have to worry about classes or tests.
as for the game against the fighting illini all i have to say is 41-10! as luken's sister said in a phone call to powers, "wow the illini really suck". it has been the first football win against illinois since i have started school at iowa in 1999. i can't wait for next year's game in champaign.
halloween in iowa city is always an interesting sight. i always say that if parents saw what some of their kids dressed up as, they would pull them right out of school. it was a blast though and we ended up finding a bar with a little line at malone's. the union, brother's, vito's and every other bar on the ped mall was packed with hour lines.
before all the bars and madness tom and i went to chuck's and saw little gavin dressed up as a pumpkin. i let gavin beat up on my useless cell phone, he seemed to like that the buttons light up when you hit them. next year i think he should go as herky, only because he would rack in a ton of candy with all the hawkeye fans.
being back in iowa city i had to hit up my favorite places to get food. of course my first stop in iowa city was at hy-vee for chinese. it is the greatest place for chinese in iowa city. i was also lucky enough to experience a hy-vee breakfast for the first time in my life. with the hamburg inn and the village in both packed we headed to coralville for hy-vee. it was a good deal 5 dollars all you can eat buffet. i love hy-vee!
a quick congrats to brother rice on their first round playoff win against thorton. next up is downers grove south at brother rice this weekend.
