2003 may 28last night we ran into a fisher, rice, iowa reunion at cork and kerry last night. i swear you can not go to a bar on western without running into at least 6 people from the past. last week pete, judy, hynek, mitch, and i headed to the bullpen sports bar at sox park. those seats are sweet! we sat outside right behind the right field fence. it is sad that i won't be around for the all star game. today we are calling up the travel agent to pick up our visas. it is the last hurdle we have to get past for the trip. also i have not wished a congrats to those i know who graduated college. so congrats: laura, siv, kevin, karen, powers, luken, danny b, jill, katie (sis), and jeff.2003 may 25i am now back home in lovely evergreen park. c mitch and i have been spending a lot of time hanging out at gaffney travel agency. we booked our flight and are heading to sydney, australia on june 6th. we will also be heading to auckland new zealand for a week. i can't wait to head out.2003 may 16tomorrow is graduation time in iowa city. i have to be ready and up at carver hawkeye arena at 8am. ouch that is early in the morning. rumor has it that graduation is in the ballpark of 3 hours long. with 1,775 graduates in the liberal arts ceremony i can see why it will take so long. family is coming up today and tommy will be out here as well. if you want to listen in to the ceremony wsui will be broadcasting it live 910am.other than that this website will be taking a little break. i plan on starting it up again when i hit australia with c mitch the first week of june. so check back then, god bless. 2003 may 15graduation is nearing here in iowa city. today i picked up a tie so i can sport a little hawkeye pride at graduation. family is coming up tomorrow which is always nice.yesterday i drove rachel to the bus station. it was sad to see her go, the happiness hotel seems a little empty without her. good luck with your summer and i hope canada has nicer weather than here. i was invited yesterday to a coffee at one of my old poly sci professor's house to meet and here a speech by democratic presidential hopeful dick gephardt. so this sunday night if nothing is going on i will be there. 2003 may 14college is now over with. on monday i watched our final projects for tv production. it is nice to never have to write a 15 page research paper or edit in a lab for 20 hours in four days. after the final was another story.i have never been the biggest drinker in the world, but last monday i am sure people might have thought i was. after the final let go at 4 we headed to brothers for a few drinks. well lets just say a few turned into a drink-a-thon until around 11:30 at night. it was great to party with a portion of the tv production class. i will miss them all, and hopefully we can hang out one last time before graduation hits. last night i went up to fitzpatrick's with my roomies for one last night on the town. it was rachel's last night in iowa city before she takes off for the border of canada. good luck this summer and i will probably see ya next fall if i come out for some football games. also yesterday the university of iowa raised the american and iowa state flag over the old capitol building. it was the first time since the fire back in november of 2001 that the flags were back atop the building. 2003 may 11i have to wish a happy mothers day to my mom!! you are the best in the world and i love you for that. i hope you have a great day. i will see ya at graduation this week.i received a phone call from c mitch last night a 1 am. it turns out that he was at a party and hanging out with dee brown, nick smith, and deron williams. c mitch shout me a holla about dee brown's intentions of staying or transfering. i don't follow u of i sports that well (probably cause i can't stand them, go hawks!) 2003 may 9cousin chuck sent me this great photo of a smiling gavin to post. if this picture does not bring a smile to your face i don't know what will.today i took it easy. i went out to micky's for lunch with tim and brad before their final classes. this is the first time in a long time i do not have to worry about any finals. i have finished all my classes and projects. after editing yesterday from 4pm to 1am my group and i are done with that. there is nothing left to do but go to my watch my tv projects on monday for my last final. what a great feeling! no more papers or test! plans for the trip to australia are underway. c mitch and i will be heading to the greatest country in the world (besides america) in early june. it will be nice to get to see some world class rugby and climb the sydney harbor bridge. most of all i get to see all the australians i miss so much. i will get to spend some quality time with my big bro tj and his wife (still getting used to saying that) renae. also stacy tony and holly i can't wait to see you soon. the trip will also include stops up at the great barrier reef. plans also include a possible stay in new zealand and adelaide or melbourne australia. 2003 may 8last night i met up with tilly and steph to catch tim play in his last jazz combo performance as a student. the sanctuary is the nicest bar in iowa city to hear a jazz performance.today i am killing time before i have to edit from 4pm to who knows when. it should be fun though looking through all our old television productions. in order to kill time i have added some new picture pages up. there are 2 new pictures of gavin from easter. the first new page is pictures i took while walking around campus. most of the photos i used in my last video essay projects. check them out, iowa city night and day. there are a couple good ones, most of the pictures are of the night sky the second page is from krui's temporary studio that we have been in this year. i guess the new studio should be up and running sometime soon. congrats to katie (sis) on finishing up finals at ho cro. have a great graduation. also, good bye josh gracien, you had a great performance to go out on. it is sad he can no longer be america's idol. 2003 may 7so people are probably wondering what i have been up to lately. last saturday jen, rachel, and i went over the amana colonies to check out old iowa. it was a great time. i must say they have some great wine, beer, and food. it was interesting to check out all the hand made quilts and lace. i don't know many people who would take the time to make those things, god bless those who do. we finished the day at the ox-yoke resturant for some family style dinner. it was nice to not have to cook or do dishes for once. another great part of our amana visit was the may day fest that was going on. what a good time to check out a tourist spot, bands playing and sun shinning. i was a little upset that we were not able to make it to west amana to see the worlds largest rocking chair, maybe i will go check that out some other time.today was a wrap on multimedia writing - video essays. it is always a strong sense of accomplishment when you finish up a class for the year. i was sad to know that i will probably never see most of my classmates again. it is wierd to hang out and spend so much time with people for only a few months. tomorrow is my final class in college, russian and post soviet politics. this thursday is my last sports report and sports show, and this saturday is my last radio show, so listen in! 2003 may 5today was my last class of tv production. i am kind of sad, it was a great class. we still have to edit our final reel which means we will be in the bcsb until about 3am again.today tim, natalie, and i finished our experimental video. it is pretty wierd and very out there. tim had a hippie friend of his write us some poetry, which we placed some visuals and music to make the piece. i think it is some of the best work to date that all of us have done. .:. may � 2003 .:. |
