i just read something disturbing in the sports section of the tribune. how would u.s. cellular park sound to you instead of comiskey park? that is right, talks are in the works to sell the naming rights of the south side dump. i am fine with it, that stadium is horrible, and for some odd reason they are painting the stadium grey and black but keeping the blue seats. that reminds me of when nikki budiselich used to call that color combo a bruise. yes, the u.s. cellular name would just add on to the ugly bruise of the south side.
wow, it is already the end of the month. it is kind of crazy to think i started out january in sydney, australia, then spent two weeks in chicago, and the last couple weeks in lovely iowa city. i have been bouncing around like a crazy person.
the krui web redesign group meet last night, and we learned of some pretty cool changes that will be happening to the station. i can't really tell you any, but keep an eye on krui's website (it should be changing soon). today i have to go meet with the good people of wsui/ksui to talk about a job.
i have to admit there are two schools i hate in the big ten since i started school in iowa. 1)illinois, yes i used to love the fighting illini, but that changed when i became a hawkeye. 2)over the past few years i have grown to hate the university of purdon't (i thank the great kids of nd and ho cro for giving me that one, it is up there with the northworstern mildcats). this weekend is a dilemma, either way i cheer for the hawks. if purdon't looses the fighting illini will move up in the big ten standings to i think number 2 behind muck fichigan. if purdon't wins then it doesn't help illinois, but we loose to purdon't, and that is no good. luckily i don't have to deal with it since the press can't cheer, and have to be unbiased.

i hate to admit it, but i am addicted to the new american idol. jen and i watched last night as all the people we have grown to hate got the boot. i hope frenchie davis wins!
last night i got to talk to sean for a little while. thanks for calling me up bro. hopefully the st. bernadette team keeps the wins coming in the marist tournament.

so i recently got off my ass to apply for a job at wsui. i was told to stop by, and that there are still some jobs open. how great would that be! i think i am going to run over there today to figure some things out. this job would also pay money, scarry huh.
i am getting sick of meetings already. this week so far i have attended four meetings with two more to come. couldn't i just resolve this issues in class or something.
this weekend i am happy to get to meet a coaching legend. i just got word that i have the press pass for the purdon't game, which means i get to meet gene keady. this guy has had the worst comb over since i have been born. hey i also get to see steve alford and his helmet head for the second time.

i hate rain, in fact i hate freezing rain mixed with sleet also add in some snow. i have just described the crap i have been walking in all day today. i mean what is the point of freezing rain, it doesn't add to the beauty of winter. it just makes for bad road conditions and slippery sidewalks. i hate freezing rain.
i went and finally got my haircut, and since no one had really seen me in the last few weeks except my fellow classmates and roomies i have not cared. for the last two weeks i have looked the same as a bum. i have not shaved for about a week and woke up this morning looking like tom hanks in cast away. this led me to shave, shower, and get a nice looking hair cut. now people will stop looking at me as if i was some really odd person.
tonight i have a ton of meetings to attend for tv production and the radio station. yeah i can not wait, my last all staff meeting. i am going to try to get some tickets for the iowa v. purdon't basketball game this weekend. we should give them a tough game, but without jared riener we have no center. that is not good for business, but anyway go hawks!

what a weak super bowl! i think i almost fell asleep at halftime, and no the radiers never had a chance. i didn't understand why celine dion was singing, god bless america, she is canadian. what became of oaklands pro-bowl center, waked out on drugs, a bit of scaredness, or was he up to late at the parties? i guess we will never know, but wow to loose a probowl player for the super bowl, this guy should never play for the raiders again. i wanted to see tampa win so i was happy with the victory.
thanks tj for signing the guestbook, i am pist i missed that cricket match! i love cricket, 4 wickets in 14 overs is simpling unreal!
also looking for a good flick to see, watch bowling for columbine by michael moore. yes, he is up to his old self in seeking out injustices in the world. it is funny and serious at the same time, and it changed my view of guns. i think charleton heston is one horrible person!

happy birthday tj!!!! yes, i know it is only the 25th, but in australia it is the 26th. i hope you and renae have a good time on australia day, and you get to catch the bridge fireworks. if you want to wish tj a happy b-day sign the comments section below. i am told that he does check the site from time to time. also tj, if you are reading this please drop a note every once and a while. family members do check this site regularly, and i know they want to get in contact with ya.
today was my first actual solo radio show. no more co-hosting at wierd hours of the morning or doing sports and news stuff. it went really well, i got a few phone calls saying i was playing some good stuff (which made me happy). i got one request for some cake (the band, not the food). all in all i made very few mistakes, and i cannot wait til next weekend. i have to thank sean (at krui) for showing me the ropes, it did help. so if anyone wants to be a guest on the show, drag your butt out to iowa city, and i will put ya on.
last night i was still under the weather so i went to a movie with katie (roomie). it was actually pretty funny, about schmidt. i know understand why jack nicholson at the golden globes said, "i am glad we won for doing a drama, but i thought we were doing a comedy."

it is still freaking cold outside, and i still have my darn cold. it should be kicked out of my system in a few days. yesterday was so cold that hy-vee actually had drive up grocery service. i was happy that my car was able to start up and run in that freezing weather. god bless the uss dan (its one boat of a car).
jen (roomie) got some pictures developed, and one is of me curled in a little ball wrapped up in my blanket. i look like a glow worm that doesn't light up. i will have to post it in a few days when i find a scanner.

it is freaking cold outside, and i have a little cold. i hate being sick. it will soon be over though. i wish i was some place warm with a beach. for everyone not living in the midwest or north it is around negative seventeen degrees out with the wind chill. i had to cross the iowa river today to do the sports report, i thought i was going to freeze.
today sports report had a few problems. my delivery was actualy kick ass today, one of my best ever. the big problem was the news director for some odd reason thought i was not the sports guy. so the news director ended the news broadcast and said goodbye with out passing it off to me, bastard. so to remedy the situation dustin the dj had to redue the intro and sneak me in after a song. so thanks dustin for fixing that problem.

so i finally got back to iowa city after putting it off for a day. its good to be back. the roomies and i went out for some great chinese at my favorite place, hy-vee. it never fails, what great food.
before i left tom and i cleaned house at the st. bernedette vegas night. i came away with seventy two bucks and tom left with a nice forty. i have to thank our first blackjack dealer who was paying off 2 to 1, when actually it should have been 1 to 1. it was like hitting blackjack every hand. we were all upset when the floor boss busted him, and made him change the great pay.
also while in town i saw sean's b-ball team win a game. the warriors went on a tough streak of 1-3 while i was in town. hopefully their last win will be the start of many more to come.

ok i have a lot to write about today, so hang in there.
last night i became a student at the university of illinois-chicago. ya that's right. tom, andy, and i went to the uic v. cleveland state basketball game last night. first, we get there and ask to buy tickets at the ticket window. the nice lady said go over there they have some. so tom and i went and asked the lady how much they were. she said nothing and scanned the tickets in without us paying. turns out all uic students get into basketball games for free. me being from iowa just neglected to show any id, and got in free. then a lady walking around asked us if we got our wristbands. tom and i said why do we need wristbands they don't sell booze here. well, turns out that students get a free present at the end of the game. sweet, more free stuff. then andy arrived at the game and we told him to go get one. he comes back with a free uic fury student section t-shirt. so tom and i went and signed up (yes i used a fake id number, address, and phone number). so now i am a member of some uic student organization. the free stuff didn't end there. at the end of the game they have a free pizza party for students. we missed out though since we went to get the student presents, which were free 10 dollar gift certificates to blockbuster. we got in line twice so we came away with 20 bucks. so my advice, go to a uic basketball game the team won and you get free stuff!
today i went to aunt sue's house with my mom to drop off her camera, and to pick up some stuff. while in australia i became and avid cricket fan of the baggy green (australia's national team). while in australia the ashes series was going on against england, which takes place every two years. it turns out that england's team was staying in the same hotel as sue and don. well today they gave me a present that made my year (yes i know this year has only started, but this might top all other presents). they hooked me up with an australia cricket jersey autographed by the english cricket team. i know most of you are saying why not on an english jersey. well they couldn't find one and the english are really nice and agreed to sign their hated rivals jersey. i will always say that no one else is better than the baggy green and these english players want to be on australia. thank you to england's wicket keeper and all the others who signed my jersey. thank you so much sue and don and their friend christine who helped get the jersey and everything autographed.

iowa what? yes, that is right we beat the ranked fighting illini basketball team. iowa who? oh ya did i mention we have a scrub team with only eight scholarship players. in the only contest of the season iowa wins the bragging rights. thanks to judy, tom, and powers for being at the goalpost to witness one great iowa win. i would also like to note that the goalpost on 95th street is one hell of a bar. i think its the only time i have been in a bar that played almost all u2. as i like to say, u2 is slowly taking over the world.
in some sad news, dallas clark has opted to the nfl instead of coming back to lovely iowa city. good luck dallas and thanks for the great seasons.
in good news kirk ferentz will be returning to lead the hawkeyes to another great bowl run next year.

went to a bar called ziggy with tom and the gang before they left to go for school. it was hysterical to see tom up there singing brittney spears, hit me one more time, while kevin played it on guitar. lets just say everyone in the bar gave them a good round of applause. tom and keving hopefully will be going on tour soon.

belated merry christmas and happy new year to everyone! finally i caught some time to update my website. things have been a little tiresome since i have been trying to get over jetlag. sydney, australia is a beutiful city, and the people are the nicest you may have a chance to meet. tj and renae's wedding was great and went off with out a problem. perfect weather, everyone looked great, and i didn't lose the rings. i am going to make a seperate webpage for the trip and the wedding it should be done some time before i leave for school next week, so look for that. thanks to stacy and tony for putting us up for week in sydney, it is nice to have some cool family. also for my last semester i will have my own radio show, saturday 11am - 1pm, listen in.
