i am a little disappointed but not shocked that bill murray lost for best actor, and keisha castle-hughes lost for best actress. i will have to go watch mystic river and monster to if they surpassed my favorites. why wasn't finding nemo up for best film (and don't give me any its an animated film and they have a category for that)? i noticed that non of the audience were giving anti-war/bush speeches loud boos like they did michael moore. interesting what time can do. gess, this year the susan surandan and tim robbins who were pretty much banned from the show back in the day were sitting front and center this year.

the update on my recent cold is that i think it might be gone by tomorrow. of course i am sick during the nicest weekend in about 3 months. it was amazing did you know the sky is blue? i forgot about that after 6 weeks of overcast cloudy skies. i am sure it will get back to the normal 30s soon, it was a nice glimpse of what spring will bring.

did any one catch the license plate number on the truck that hit me?? yesterday i started to get my second cold in a matter of three weeks. it felt that every bone would crack if i moved around. to make matters worse i could not fall asleep last night, is there no relief. i took some stuff to help clear it up so i am feeling pretty good this morning.

i have some more work lined up for me this weekend. they want to go all out with the c&l website so i am going to be adding on some new features.

tonight is the end of the bartman ball. i think this has gotten a little out of hand. they are making blow up the ball t-shirts. it is going to be broadcast live on espn and msnbc. i wonder what will be next, maybe they will actually let a goat sit in a seat during a game to break that curse.

on friday i made my first trip in almost five years to brother rice high school for a basketball game. hynek, pete and i saw rice take st. rita behind the woodshed and beat the living out of them. the games are pretty much the same as when i was there. two student sections yelling back and forth, rice living by the three ball, and a packed house. rice won the game by 30 and became the first team in school history to go undefeated in catholic league south play, hail our crusader team!

last night was movie night and i threw in, teenage mutant ninja turtles one. its funny to watch movies now that you loved as a kid, you catch more of the jokes. my new favorite part of the movie is casey jones' cricket refrence in a fight with raphael. c - "new game, round head. cricket!" r - "cricket! nobody understands cricket! you gotta know what a crumpet is to understand cricket!" c - "i'll teach you... see? six runs (as casey hits raphael in the head with a cricket bat into a garbage can)." yes, i am only one of three americans who loves and understands most of the game of cricket.

HAPPY belated 23rd BIRTHDAY to doyle!!! as jim and i were heading to the q101 jobfair i realized i am a year older than him. it is odd seeing most of my friends turn the same age as me but 5 or 6 months later, gess i am getting old.

the job fair was not that bad, i have to thank jim for getting me to go to it. i had a good chat with the people from emmis communications and oberwies dairy. if nothing else it was nice to get the resume out in person.

had a bad morning today. woke up to find our ethernet card was not working right. after a useless call to comcast i finally found a way to bypass all the ehternet cords. bless the people who invented usb connections, it is so easy to use. a fifteen minute phone call went for nothing. they should cut me a check for fixing it so my dad would not cancel it.

i finally got to watch lost in translation last night. was i the only one who wanted the charolette and bob to hook up? the whole film seemed to be pushing that way, friends don't give the look those two were giving most of the film. also, what does bill murray whisper at the end of the film?

today was filled with boring tasks. paid my credit card bill, cashed in some checks, and registered to vote. yup that is right, i registered to vote. for the first time in my life i will vote in the state of illinois. for the past four years i voted in the great state of iowa. i was pist to find out that my polling place is not at southeast school 2 blocks away. looks like i will have to go another few blocks to get bush out of office.

sean received some good news yesterday. he will be a part of the freshman class of 2008 at brother rice high school. congrats sean!

if you are a iowa hawkeye fan or not this site will make you laugh, fire steve alford.com. looks like the natives are restless and i do not blame them. hopefully the hawks can do some damage in the big ten tourney.

happy belated valentines day to everyone. my saturday was spent contributing to the devouring of a 20 pound fried turkey. this time around we had more side dishes including south side potatoes with stuffing and veggies. we also had potato pancakes for an appetizer. thanks to jim, mark and mary for doing all of the cooking. along with the good food was great booze. timmy picked up a bottle of jameson along with a few czech beers and a sixer of molson. nothing says happy valentines day better than eating a pound of turkey with some bbq saw and taking some shots of jameson.

also how would you like to be a red sox fan today? your team missed out on signing one of the best players in baseball, a-rod. if that was not bad your biggest rival signs him from under your feet. ouch, please sign with the cubs maddux!

the last few days have been pretty busy, and that is a huge change for me. tuesday night sean and i attended a practice for his conformation which is tonight. sean picked me to be his sponsor so i felt honored. congrats sean michael francis leo on the conformation, gess you have a long name.

yesterday, today and saturday morning i have been and will be working on c & l electrical supply's website. i did a basic layout back in 2002 and now i gave it a little face lift. it has been a nice change actually working lately. hopefully i get a phone call from either the beverly review or the jerry springer show sometime in the next few weeks.

this morning i also did a little real estate scouting work for siv. i checked out a house on longwood and about 112th to see if it was worth him showing. i figure i need some busy work and it fit in my schedule nicely.

"After he left us, I ordered more whiskey. I thought how she'd made him look small. From the lights of the barroom to the rented hotel room. We walked without talking at all. She was a beauty, but when she came to me. She must have thought I'd lost my mind."

waiting every 4 or 5 weeks to get a hair cut has not been working. today i am heading in for another trim. this time i going to try to get in there about every 2 or 3 weeks. i feel bad for the barber when it takes about 30 minutes to cut and all i hear is wow you have thick hair. i guess that is a good thing, i won't be bald any time soon.

last night at bj mcmahon's siv, mary, pete and came up with some great new reality show ideas for fox. after being inspired by my big fat obnoxious fiance and seeing commercials for the new show the littlest groom we came up with some good ones. mary came up with a show called, charged. the basics are some one gets charged with a crime and goes to court where everyone but him/her is in on the joke. my golden child is, oh look now your homeless. we basically take a rich person cut up all their credit cards take away their home and throw them with no money in a city far from their own. another one involves a dating show where we get a group of singles together. the catch is that some of the girls are underage like 17, so if any one ends up with them the relationship is illegal. we came up with about 30 other great ones, but these were some of the ones i could remember.

today's kenny roger's love song lyrics capture the essence of cheating couples. i have a theory on kenny songs called the three b's, every song talks about betting, booze or broads. these lyrics fall into the broads category.

"Daytime friends and nighttime lovers. They don't want to hurt the others. So they love in the nighttime. And shake hands in the light of day."

HAPPY 23rd BIRTHDAY JEFF!!! ha, it is nice to not be the only one that age.

bar hopping is such a great thing. last friday tom and i headed into the city to meet up with his sis at durkin's tavern. minus the fact that it is a purdon't bar it was a great place. i hate going north though because the prices go up. in oak lawn a person can get a bottle of miller lite for $1.25. on the north side you can get that same bottle for $4.00. while at durkin's we saw a pushing match start up outside on the street. no punches were thrown but it was still fun to watch.

after an hour or two at durkin's we went to friar tuck. this bar seemed very out of place for being surrounded in a wealthy neighborhood. it seemed more like and evergreen park bar than anything else. any who, it was friday hat fun night there so everyone in the bar got to put on silly hats. i got a frog hat to wear while i drank.

when the bar closed we went to finish up the night at yak-zies. the bar was in the basement of a building. it was packed and lacked some necessary oxygen due to the fact there was no windows. it was a good night.

last valentine's day i did my top interesting dating stories (feb. 10-14, 2003). this year i want to keep in the tradition, but with a change. everyday this week i will post my favorite lines from kenny roger's love songs.

"Liquor and music, a good combination. If you've got love on the brain. I never knew two women who acted the same. Some want a drink first, and some want to just sit and talk. Whoa, oh, it's two in the mornin', I'm runnin' and she wants to walk"

reality tv has hit a new low with the show, america's next top model, hosted by tyra banks. i have watched a total of three episodes and it is unhealthy to watch. first, they have judges calling gals that are like 90 pounds fat. second, in every episode i have watched one of the girls passes out (probably from the lack of eating). third, the rewards for winning their little contests is going out to dinner with two others. i find it odd that their reward is food, probably because they are starving. i can't believe this is on television and young girls are watching this crap. i vow never to watch upn again.

tonight is uic basketball night! tommy and i are meeting up with his sisters to watch the uic flames play uw-milwaukee. then its off to a concert that sounded like it will be a good time.

after weeks of hearing how the superbowl was going to be a horrible game, it was one of the best ever. it seemed every time carolina was going to be blown out they hung in there. the field was in horrible shape. there was so much paint on it players were sliding all over the place. maybe next year in jacksonville they will have the turf ready to go.

i had to laugh about this controversial halftime show. the only people to catch what occurred were the girls. mike, judy's cousin, and i were to busy talking to pay attention to justin and janet. i guess we missed out. mtv probably will never have the chance to produce another half time show. even with out the flash the show was pretty raunchy. oh well i didn't expect much less from the same people who brought us the madonna - brittany kiss.

the best ad this year was the bud light commercial with the dogs getting their owners booze. you can not really go wrong with a man being punched, kicked, hit or bite in the groin. remember the simpson's episode with homer judging the film festival.

on the job front i cancelled my interview for the chicago fire mascot job. i figured even if i was offered it i was going to turn it down. today i sent out resumes, one was for a production assistant job with the jerry springer show. it was in the tribune so i figured why not.
