where did the time go? this past week was spent working downtown as a temp. the day goes by fast when you are up at 6am, getting home at 9pm, to fall asleep by 11. all this week has been employee appreciation week so i wore jeans and there was free food and booze on most of the days. i also tried chipotle and potbelly's for the first time, yes i have lead a sheltered last few months.
thursday i got to see the new look u.s. cellular field as the white sox beat the yankees. talk about freezing cold, the wind was horrible and it was about 35 degrees outside. instead of dollar hotdogs thursday they should call it bait and switch night. we went to get hotdogs in the second inning only to find out they would not be ready for another 10 minutes. it seemed every time we went to get hotdogs there was a wait of a few innings. this is the biggest scam i have encountered at a sporting event. the sox should know that people are going to be eating a ton of hotdogs. plus it only takes a minute to cook a hotdog. how could they not have any ready?? oh well at least the sox won and the stadium looks nice now.
friday was spent drinking at work since they bought two kegs for employees. i don't think i will ever be able to drink at work ever again, what a great company. thanks again mary for setting me up with the temp position.
saturday i helped move cousin ellen in to her new condo in logan square. luckily there were not a lot of heavy pieces. the weather was cooperative and didn't start to rain until the last batch of clothes was brought in. i hope you have time to finish unpacking and relax in the new crib.
congrats to all of my friends who will be making their graduation as the class of 2004! tom is finally done at uic, cmitch will be thugging into the real world after finishing up at u of i, timmy is done at niu leaving only fech to go visit there, and mary graduated from loyola the home of bill "the apprentice" rancik. sheila is also done at quincy, so congrats to all!

busy, busy me! my weekend was filled with painting, golf and bar hopping. after spending most of saturday painting my garage i got to hit some golf balls. it was probably one of my best days with the irons. usually i have to use the 2 wood to hit distance, but not last saturday. i was able to par my last two holes, both were par three.
after that it was off to bj mc mahons, gaslight, and then the homestead in oak lawn. the homestead is an old three story house with the first floor with a bar. this place has the longest shuffle board i ever saw. it always nice to hang out with the locals every once and a while.
sunday tom, uncle chuck and i spent most of the day painting ellen's new condo. it took only a few hours and the paint job looks pretty good. i think we all quieted the nay sayers.
today i headed downtown to a temp agency to fill out some paper work. this week i will be spending time working for an insurance company. thank you mary for setting me up with this gig.

i stepped on a ball field for the first time since i was 12 years old, this time it was to coach. that is right coach dan dug out the old glove and ran today's practice for sean's team. there were a few things i noticed since i last played. one, i can hit the ball a mile with a wood bat. two, the field is way to small. three, i still pitch inside which doesn't work in batting practice. the kids had fun which is all that mattered. i will have to ice my arm after throwing 90 pitches today, hell i only i hit 2 batters.
check out the new 10 that i put up. gone are the 10 worst movies, hello to the 10 things your most likely to hear me say.

play ball! hopefully the white sox can make a better home opening than the cubs did yesterday, i thought maddux was good. i also must admit that i think the new look cell looks pretty nice. over the past few years i have been bashing that stadium, but now i can't. i like the new upper deck look although, and the three tier fan deck in center looks like a nice move. this year i will have to hit up more half price nights there.
the next phase of renovation, which will be the final, is going to be the finishing touch. one rumor had a new second deck over the right field stands, similar to the ballpark in texas. there is also talk of new green seats to replace the sea of blue. they also might try to fix the outside of the stadium as well. hks architects are doing the renovations after hok messed up the original designs. yes, i know to much about baseball stadiums.

i told my mom and dad today that i wanted to move out, and i need some money. its this great location right on the chicago river. amazing views of downtown chicago. construction on the building is set to start pretty soon. i figure by the time it is complete i should have some money to throw towards it. so today i asked them for a reasonable $1,257,000 to get a one bedroom condominium in the new trump international hotel and tower. they laughed i said no i am serious. if you do not want to hook me up with a million plus they could give me $604,000 for a studio (not bad right). they laughed again and i laughed, then i said well at least you won't have to kick in over 15 million dollars for a year round residential condo there. yes, this is a big joke and all had a good laugh. these figures where in an ad in the real estate section of today's sun times.
no wonder trump makes so much cash. it seems these days you can not avoid going one day without hearing about donald trump. frankly, its getting a little annoying. nbc runs commercials it seems once every hour telling you about the 2 hour apprentice finale. you pick up the paper there he is. hosting saturday night live, presenting the miss usa pageant. i am tired of the bad hair jokes and the "you're fired" t-shirts and mugs. who would wear a "you're fired" tank top around?

the crack of the bat, smell of fresh cut grass, the bright white color of newly painted baselines, its time for opening day for the cubs and sox tomorrow. these are my predictions of how the standings will be come october, lets see if i am right.

what a great final four duke lost and a kid from crain hits the game winner for georgia tech. i hope tech wins the national championship, they got an aussie center. watch the games at mike's new condo in buffolo grove. its a kick ass location with all kinds of great restaurants around the area. we got some lou malnati's deep dish pizza for some eats.
the worst rumor in e.p. is now circulating around the village, panos is going to be replaced by a walgreens. this would put three walgreens on 95 in e.p. within a 2 mile stretch. they are building so many soon the individual stores will be competing against each other. this is a crime, panos is an institution of e.p., plus there is a vacant gas station on just north of panos where they could build it. i hope you will join with me as i boycott walgreens!
speaking of boycotts, if your driving down south on i-294 check out the billboards. there is one of richard pryor boycotting kfc for cruelty to chickens. mike and i thought it was an interesting ad, i didn't know richard pryor cared so much about it to be a spokesman.

last night a good friend from iowa who moved to chicago came down to the south side for the first time to hang out with tom and i. it was nice to finally see tim and show him around western ave. i took him up to keegan's for a pint of guinness and then over to maxwell street for some chicago food. tim have a save trip to des moines and i will be out there this summer of an i-cubs game. who knows prior might be having a couple starts there before he gets up to the majors.
good news, grandma is getting released from the hospital today. about a week after her surgery she is starting to look like her old self. congrats on getting well soon grandma.
