| The Rising Sun, a film by Graham Sparkman, was a childhood vision of ninjas, swords, and the orient. Written by, directed by, and starring children, this was however the first Sparkman film since 1979's "Love Means Never Having to Say You're Dead", and provided a learning experience, if nothing else. Graham Sparkman and Brad Gibson co-wrote the script, loosely based on martial arts video games and movies that they had seen. The film also used a large cast of extras - which were film debuts for almost all of the youngsters. Included in the cast were Graham Sparkman, Brad Gibson, Satya Reddy, Peyton Watts, Damon Hickman, Warner Sparkman, and Dayal Reddy (with Faron Sparkman in a cameo appearance).. Faron Sparkman handled the camera work, while Graham directed (sometimes while in front of the camera). Graham had long wanted to make a movie of his own, and chose this over his never-filmed-sequal to the Crem movie. |
