Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated
ALPHA PHI ALPHA FRATERNITY, INCORPORATED,
a concept and idea founded by seven African American male students was founded Tuesday, December 4, 1906 on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.  These students were Henry Arthur Callis, Charles Henry Chapman, Eugene Kinckle Jones, George Biddle Kelly, Nathaniel Allison Murray, and Vertner Woodson Tandy.  These men are known as the founders of the fraternity, better reffered to as "Jewels".  The fact that these group of men decided to create a concept such as a study group exemplified the challenge set forth against the racial prejudices and injustices that African American students faced at Cornell.

Little did these great men know that their idea would extend further than the walls and grounds of Cornell.  Within a few year's time, their idea of Alpha Phi Alpha extended to institutions of higher education at colleges such as Howard University, VA Union University, University of Toronto, Columbia University, University of Michigan, Yale University, and the University of Illinois.  In the year of 1910, was Syracuse also graced with the presence of members from this prestigious idea, which is now known as the fraternity.  This chapter was known as the 9th chapter of Alpha, the Iota Chapter.

Not long after its founding was the Iota Chapter inactive in 1912 at the 5th General Convention.  However, the chapter was revived  on March 10, 1941 on the historic campus of Morris Brown College located in Atlanta, Georgia.  An entity of the elitist yet gernerous ideas of the fraternity, the chapter continues to uphold the ideas of the fraternity, "First of all, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All..."

Presently, the Iota Chapter continues to strive to promote an oasis of the culmination of education, learning, and knowledge to prepare students at Morris Brown College for the prosperity of opportunity and wealth of the world today.
