What is IOS?

Planted in the heart of the group of island called The Cyclades, small, tree-less, and a sheer beauty, IOS is now more than ever top in the preferences of youngsters. A place of exile at one time, then a fortress for pirates, and then for rock fans. Ios made it's come back mainly in the 80's. The island of IOS lies between Naxos/Paros and Thira(Santorini). A distance of 107 nautical miles away from Piraeus. It has an area of 108 sq. km. and a winter round population of about 1,650 people, this swells to over 30,000 from the months of June till the end of September. The island is lovingly nicknamed "THE ROCK", and Homer is said to be buried on IOS. Jokingly IOS is said to stand for "Island Of Sex", "Irish Over Seas", spend a few summer days or better nights there and you'll know why.
