Brought
to your school on a laptop, this computer program enables students to compose
their own music. Creating Techno, Rap, Rock, Jazz or Classical, with or without
lyrics, is a fun and educational process. Culminating in a performance, a CD
for each participant or both, this program develops self esteem, collaboration,
music, writing and computer skills. The instructor will even install the software
on a school computer to provide an ongoing curriculum.
Using the technology of audio files that can
be stretched both in terms of pitch and rhythm, loop based music composition
is a quick and easy way to create sound pieces for dance, rap, song or film.
Although electronica is the style that lends itself most easily to this process,
the possibilities of music genre are limited only by samples and imagination.
Children as well as adults respond to this process of creating music and in
these classes a free software program is used so there is no equipment investment
except for a Pentium PC computer and a web connection to download audio files,
although hundreds of samples are supplied in the class.
