NORTEL Networks, Richardson TX
Co-Op employment,
RF-CDMA engineering Department (Full-time)
The Co-op employment was
offered after an extremely competitive selection process during the Co-op Interview Event
organized by Nortel Networks Student Talent Acquisition department. Beside this
full time employment I am a graduate student at UTA. I was working as a RF Engineer for CDMA wireless telecommunication systems doing technical support, testing and analyzing data for optimization using
Nortel’s RF Optimizer for Sprint PCS Houston Market.
JAN 2000 – JAN
2001
University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), Department of Electrical Engineering
Graduate Research Assistant - GRA (Part-time)
The GRA was granted as a scholarship to accommodate my
graduate study in UTA. It was under an extremely competitive selection process.
The duty of the offer is to work 20 hours per week as research assistant beside
the full-time graduate study. I was working on the Advance Technology Project (ATP). Meanwhile, I was also working on
the Advance Research Project
(ARP).
On the ATP project I was working on the analyses and algorithm development for automatic software
translation of 2D technical drawings to 3D feature based CAD solid models. My
algorithms for automatic finding and grouping of specific features of the model
based on specific characteristics are implemented in the proprietary software.
This proprietary software is the only available on the market for 2D to 3D
automatic translations. Information of this software could be obtained
on the web, http://www.imagecomcorp.com/
& http://www.aspire3d.com/
My second task on the APT project was to analyze Collaborative Virtual Prototyping (CVP) available on the market and to find a
method for inserting proprietary software in these CVP applications. I was
doing research on CVP systems, midlleware technologies, CORBA, COM, DCOM
architecture.
On the ARP project I was working on analyzing
voxel-rendering methods for virtual surgery application development.
SEP 1999 – DEC
1999
University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), Department of Electrical Engineering
Exchange
Visiting Research Assistant
Research program in Digital Coding (Field Code 3100) granted from University of Texas at Arlington, Digital Image Processing lab. I was working on Digital Image Compression using transform coding. I have implemented some of these methods using MATLAB.
NOV 1997 – DEC 1999
“POLITEHNICA” University of Timisoara, Department of
Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering
Graduate
Research Assistant (GRA) and lab
instructor (Part-time)
The GRA was granted as a
scholarship to accommodate my graduate study in “POLITEHNICA”. It was a
Romanian state sponsored scholarship. The first duty of the offer was to work
20 hours per week as research assistant in the Multimedia Lab beside the
full-time graduate study. I was working on Digital
Image Processing (DIP) and Image Compression related research tasks. As a
result of this work I have published three research papers at international
conferences. The second duty was to work as lab instructor for the “Television”
undergraduate course. This work helped
me to learn in details Broadcasting
Television concept as well as to improve my public presentation skills.

University
of Texas at Arlington (UTA), Department of Electrical Engineering
With graduate research assistantship, I am doing the MS graduate program
here in UTA. At the same time, I have been serving as a research assistant in
Virtual Environment lab working on “Advance
Technology Project” and on “Advance Research Project” sponsored by
Texas State and
Since most of the course work will be finished, I am available for internship or full-time job
from Jun 2001.
Course
work:
Data Network Engineering,
Engineering Project Management,
Probability and Random Process for Electrical Engineering,
Computer Aided Design,
Project in Electrical Engineering,
Digital Image Processing,
Image Coding.
NOV 1997 – present
“POLITEHNICA” University of Timisoara, Romania and “UNIVERSITY OF BELGRADE”, Belgrade, Yugoslavia
“POLITEHNICA” and “University of Belgrade” are two of the best
engineering universities in Eastern Europe. Information
of the program could be obtained on the web, http://www.utt.ro/ & http://www.bg.ac.yu/. My Ph.D. program is a result of
the special international contract of cooperation between these two
Universities. One professor from each University supervises my research work.
My supervisors are Dr. C.I.Toma (“Politehnica”) and Dr. Z.S.Bojkovic
(“University of Belgrade”). I have completed all me course work for this
program. Due to
my outstanding performance, I was awarded with
research assistantship at University of Texas at Arlington so I have continued
my education at UTA. Meanwhile I am working on the thesis for the degree.
OCT 1992 – JUN 1997
“POLITEHNICA”
University of Timisoara, Department of Electronics and Telecommunications
Engineering, Major Telecommunications
This program is slightly different from similar U.S. programs. It requires five years of intensive study. Two years of study of basic electrical engineering topics and three years of study of specific telecommunications topics. Most of the telecommunications courses are equivalent to U.S. graduate level courses. At the end of the program thesis must be submitted.
Graduate Thesis: “Image Compression”
