Walking
With God![]()
Scripture Reading: Romans 6:1-11.Memory Verse: "Furthermore then we beseech you, brethern, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more" (1 Thess. 4:1).
INTRODUCTION: When you were converted you turned your life around. Now you must not stand still at that point, but begin to walk with God.
This means living day by day with Him and being led by Him. This is simple, and exciting. The Lord Jesus Christ dwells in your heart by His Spirit, but He will control only that portion of your life which you yield to Him.
The Apostle Paul wrote to Christians about this:"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which
is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove
what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" (Romans 12:1,2).Because His Spirit now dwells in your body, the only way He can express His life and love is through a person totally committed to Him. Think of your heart as a house--full of many rooms. Don't expect the Holy Spirit to transform your heart if you refuse to let Him into all its rooms. It is important to be sure you have surrendered everything to Him.
Here's a project to do for homework: take a number of slips of paper, on each write down the money you possess, your car or any other physical possessions, your loved ones and lastly yourself. Have a short time of prayer and commitment to God and hand each of these over to Him. Say something like, "Lord, here is my bank account--I surrender it to you. Lord, here is my T.V.--I surrender it to you," and so on. When you surrender all to God, you obtain life and joy and peace. This is truly what it means to be a disciple of Christ.LESSON QUESTIONS:
