Introduction: Have you ever heard someone say, "Serving God is so difficult. I don't think I can make it! It's so hard to walk the straight and narrow path?" The truth is, they are absolutely right. It is hard to walk the straight and narrow path (in fact, it is impossible), without trusting in the Lord. Matthew 11:28-30 expresses just this principle. If we will but come to Jesus and learn of Him. If we will yoke up with the Savior, our way would be easy. Jesus is the gentle Shepherd. He leads us gently and lovingly, and sets our path for us. All that we need to do is commit to following Him.
Why has it become so hard for some to follow Jesus? It is very likely they've gotten their eyes onto things outside the path. Remember the warning in 1 John 2:15,16? Love not the world! Have you ever driven down the road and gotten your eyes on something off the road? When you get your eyes back in focus on the road again, you probably found you were beginning to swerve the wrong direction. Without realizing it, you began directing the car in the direction your eyes were looking. It is the same way in the kingdom of God. We must get our eyes on Jesus. If we are looking another way, we will go that way. Philippians 4:8 tells us what we should think on. Jesus really is all of these.
