| Accommodations Okayama Villas Okayama http://www.harenet.ne.jp/villa/ The Okayama Villa group was set up in 1988 "as a non-profit organisation to provide international guests with a place to rest and relax in the beauty of rural Japan". There are six of them scattered around the prefecture of Okayama. In English. Shioya Hakuba Shiojima http://web.hakuba.ne.jp/iwatake/inn/shio_mori.html#mori This traditional owner run minshuku is always very apreciated by the IOC ski tour members. Each room has got tatamis and a charcoal kotatsu. Located in the village, but free ride to iwatake and Happo. About 7,000/night w/ dinner & breakfast, drinks are extra. As in all Hakuba, ski weekends must be booked well in advance. Reservation in Japanese only, say that you're a friend of Pierre. In Japanese Tel. 0261-72-3237 Shirokoya Hakuba Happone http://plaza11.mbn.or.jp/~shiroikoya/ The best asset of this western style hotel is its location: access by car (East side) or on ski (West side), directly from Happone ski ground. Price is a bit high (from 8,900yen w/ dinner and buffet breakfast, party of four, 10,500yen on weekends) and "skiers rooms" are crampy, but the French style diner overlooking the night ski slope makes it worth. As in all Hakuba, ski weekends must be booked well in advance. English is OK, the friendly -and a bit shy- family owners run a sister pension in New-Zealand. Japanese to access, some English inside. Tel. 0261-72-3180 Snowbeds Hakuba Hakuba Echoland http://www.snowbedsjapan.com/ Only bunkbeds, but the cheapest in Hakuba at 3,000yen/night (bring your own food). In English and Japanese.
