Parting Words from our 2002 Committee Members

Since I joined IOC, the club gave me a lot of great things, friends, pleasure of outdoor activities, etc. I could learn how to read a map and organize events.  It's so fun to plan events and go out with friends. I really thank the IOC and hope the club will continue as long as possible.

It was an exciting and fun year for me! I would like to thank everybody who supported me and joined our IOC events.  I would like to especially thank all Committee Members, since it was due to their efforts and time, that the IOC had another successful and enjoyable year. I remember a number of beautiful trips last year, for example my first hike from Yamashina to Daimonji, our fantastic cycling trips in Kurama, Biwako, Miyama-cho and Nara, our Annual Meeting in Kurama, our Indian Christmas Party with over 40 people, our Kamonabe Shinnenkai- Party and many hours of interesting discussions and good food. I am especially pleased that we did not have any accidents. I wish the new elected Committee Members all the best and the IOC many more years to come. Keep going!

I  have been the activity coordinator for the last two years.  I must say that the coordinator's task was not easy for me, and in fact, sometimes it was very hard. However, I gained invaluable things through being the coordinator.  I met a lot of people who became friends in IOC.  I received warm-hearted messages and kindness from the members.  If you join the club and participate actively rather than passively, you will surely get more things from the club.

Hi!  This had been another busy year for the IOC.  Some of the highlights were the combined hiking and cycling event to the annual meeting, and the Christmas party, both of which had great turnouts!  Thank-you to all those who participated, especially the committee members and co-ordinators whose time and energy ensured it was such a success!  Standing in as vice-president for the last 2 years I have had a great opportunity to meet newcomers and welcome them to the club, as well as being on the committee to fully appreciate what goes on "behind the scenes". Thanks to everyone for all your support and encouragement over the years I've been part of the IOC.  I'll return to New Zealand in spring, and wish you all the best with your future outdoor adventures!

The high points of my activity year were the white boulders in the setting sun in the creek near Odaigahara, cycling Jacquelyns Nara route and stopping at the onsen. Thank you all for the companionship and especially the committee members who worked so hard this year. While we are at it I could mention some low points of the year. At the top of that list is my hangover after the Christmas party. Second in line would have to be trying to adjust the Horses Mouth heading on our newsletter so it didnt also appear on page two.
