Tata Equity PE Fund
Tata
Equity PE Fund is equity diversified fund which focuses on value investing
philosophy. It aims at offering capital appreciation by building a portfolio of
stocks with low P/E
ratio less than that of Sensex at the time of
investment. The asset allocation presents a structure of 70% in low P/E stocks
and remaining 30% in growth stocks or debt which enables the fund manager to
grab the right opportunities for investment. The fund is more exposed into small
and mid caps stocks rather
than larger cap. But it doesn’t dedicate
itself to a high extent to any individual stock; hence gives an idea about its
defensive nature. The fund performance is quite impressive since its launch on
June 2004 except some downside returns. During last three months the fund has
generated exceptional return of 31% and outperformed its benchmark in most of
the cases. Financial services, metals and energy sectors dominate the portfolio
with an exposure of 42% of assets. The fund has spread its investment in some
wide-held stocks like Reliance Industries, SBI and Hindalco Industries.
However this fund is not suitable to those investors who are looking for
flamboyant
returns. Rather the fund will be appealing to
those who have a conservative look in equity diversified funds with a long term
objective.
