About Our Class

There are 8 stundents enrolled in our class.  We have been together for the last 2 years.  We did get 1 new student in January.  We are really enjoying getting to know him.  The children in this class range in age from the 4th to the 8th grade.
The students are listed from left to right, beginning with the back row:  Mrs. Paxton, Kelvin Balentine, Kalvin Balentine.  Middle row:  Alexis Earvin, Lakeish Gibson, Renagro Gibson.  Front row:  Rafeal Nailor, Wendy Edwards.

Exciting Events

The most exciting thing that has happened to our class this year is when we got our 2 new computers.  We did not have any computers in our classroom until this year.  We got 2 of them.  We are having a great time learning about them.  So far we have learned to use our internet to find cool sites with games and to take field trips to places that we have never been.  We hope to get email penpals.  If you are interested, please email me at [email protected].
We have also done some very interesting presentations using the powerpoint program.  We did presentations on Thanksgiving  and Christmas.  Right now we are working on presentations about famous African Americans.  Some include Martin Luther King, Jr., Booker T. Washington, Harriett Tubman, Rosa Parks, Michael Jordan, Oprah Whinfrey, George Washington Carver, and Frederick Douglass.
Also, we have gotten some neat learning games for the computer.  Some of them are Reader Rabbit, First Money, Concentration, Jumpstart, and Basketball Typing. The boys seem to like the Basketball Typing and the girls like Reader Rabbit the best.
Sometimes we like to draw pictures using the paint program on our computer.  We have made some really neat stuff there.

Field Trips

We have been on 1 field trip this year, so far.  We went to Simmon's Pumkin Patch.  It was really great.  We had a tour of the pumkin patch where the big pumkins were.  Then, we were able to see each of the growing stages of the pumpkins, beginning with the sprouts and ending with the ripened fruit.  After that we were able to go out and choose any pumpkin that we wanted to take home to our families.
Mr. Simmons also had a petting zoo at the patch.  It was really fun.  He had turkeys, emus, goats, pigs, horses, rabbits, and sheep.  After the petting zoo, we had cookies and kool aid while we played in the hay.
