[episode 22]
~after Kagura and Alex have been shown around the Higurashi shrine~
(Alex and Kagura were left alone in the guest bedroom) (Nobody said anything for a while then Kagura said something)
Kagura- What about all of Naraku’s other detachments?
Alex- What about them? (Alex cleaning his sword with a cloth and didn’t look up at Kagura when she asked him this)
Kagura- What about Kanna and Hakadoushi and all of them? Shouldn’t we free them too?
Alex- I don’t guess, why would we?
Kagura- Maybe they want to be free too.
Alex- (Alex stopped cleaning his sword and looked up at Kagura) I don’t think they WANT to be free. They seem happy serving Naraku. You were her special one. I don’t think Hakadoushi wants to be free and that baby of Naraku is just pure evil, the only one that might want to be free is Kanna but I cant tell cause she is void of most emotion.
Kagura- She is but maybe I can help her, she is my older sister.
Alex- I know how you feel but Naraku is running around Japan looking for jewel shards, I have no idea where Kanna’s heart is.
Kagura- You don’t know? (Kagura paused for a moment)
Alex- Kagura, I promise if I knew where her heart was I would go get it and free her.
(Kagura didn’t say anything but felt of her own heart beat)
Alex- Tell you what, if I get a chance to free her I will if she means that much to you.
Kagura- I understand, thanks.
(Kagura turned to look out the window as Alex went back to cleaning his sword)
Kagura- It’s getting late.
Alex- Yeah. (Alex finally put his sword back in its sheath and leaned it against the wall)
Kagura- This era is strange to me, can you explain some of it to me.
Alex- Yeah I guess if you want.
(Alex told Kagura about the new inventions and laws that Japan had taken on in the last 500 years)
~after Alex explained the modern era to Kagura~
Kagura- So weapons aren’t allowed in public anymore?
Alex- Not openly at least. Your fan isn’t considered a weapon though. I cant really carry around a sword in a big city like this.
(Kagura and Alex hear a knock on the door of the room)
Alex- Its open.
(Kagome walks into the room)
Kagome- Hey we are going to eat soon why don’t you 2 come on down?
Alex- Ok. (Alex gets up and Kagura follows him out of the room and downstairs)
~downstairs with Inuyasha, Kagome and her family~
(Kagome introduces Alex and Kagura to her family)
Alex- Hi, sorry to be such a burden but Kagome asked us to stay for a little while.
Kagome’s mom- Don’t be that way, we have plenty of room and we don’t get company very often, especially friends of Kagome.
Alex- But still….
Kagome’s grandfather- Son if she says it is ok then don’t complain.
Alex- Well if you insist, thanks.
(Everybody hears a ring from the kitchen)
Kagome’s mom- Oh looks like dinners ready.
(Everybody follows Kagome’s mom into the dinning room and they sit down to eat)
~At dinner with everybody~
Souta- So Alex why do you go to that world like Kagome?
Alex- Um…well there are 4 good reasons why. One is sitting right beside me. (Kagura blushes a little bit) Two I have a friend that needs help escaping from my enemy and three is Kagome and Inuyasha can’t collect all the shards of the Jewel of Four Souls without me. Four I want to fight one of the Yagu family in a fair fight, just to test my skill.
Kagome’s grandfather- So you know about the Jewel of Four Souls AND the Yagus?!
Alex- Yeah, is something wrong?
Kagome’s grandfather- I’ve been looking for someone that’s knows about Japans ancient legends.
Alex- Umm well sorry but I only know about a few of them.
Kagome’s grandfather- Which ones?
Alex to himself- Man he’s really fired up about Japan legends, I thought I was obsessed with anime.
Alex- Um I only know about the Yagu family, the Jewel of Four Souls, and Japan’s ancient mercenaries.
Kagome’s grandfather- Which mercenaries?
Alex- Too many to name.
Kagome- Before grandfather gets out of hand with his legends how about you tell us more about your past. We don’t know much about you except what you’ve told us.
(Alex pauses for a few seconds) (Alex looks like he is suppressing a tormented look)
Kagura- Is everything ok Alex?
Alex- Yeah I’m fine. (Alex stands up with his plate which he has finished off his food)
Alex- If you will excuse me, I have to put my plate away. (Alex leaves and goes into the kitchen)
Kagome- Did I say something wrong?
Inuyasha- I heard from Sango his past is something you shouldn’t ask about.
Kagome- Jeez Inuyasha be a little more quick with information like that.
(Kagura gets up)
Kagura- I’ll go check on him. (Kagura leaves to look for Alex)
Kagome’s mom- Oh dear I hope we didn’t bring up any bad memories.
Kagome- I just wanted to know….if I knew he didn’t want to talk about it I wouldn’t have asked.
~with Alex who is looking at the sunset from the front steps of the shrine~
Alex- Jeez she had to ask didn’t she?
~flashback of Alex in elementary school~
Kid 1- Your such a smartass. Your just a teachers pet. (The kid punches Alex in the face and Alex falls to the ground)
Kid 2- You made me look like a fool today you know that?! (the 2 kids continue to punch Alex)
(later with Alex after the 2 kids walk away)
Alex to himself- Great, that’s like the 3rd beating this week I’ve gotten for my smarts. And if I go to a teacher they’ll just beat me more. I’m too small to protect myself against more than one of them.
Plus the teachers never do anything when I do tell them. What hipicritical world. And it’s never the same group of kids either.
~flashback to Junior High with Alex~
(As Alex walks down the hallway a boy pushes him against the lockers and Alex pushes him away) (About 3 other boys gather around Alex)
Alex- What do you want from me now?
Boy- Shut up. (the boy punches Alex in the stomach and he falls to his knees)
Alex- Bastard I’ll get you one of these days.
(the boy raises his hand again to hit Alex)
(2 other boys tackle the 4 boys and start to fight them) (the 4 boys run from the 2 boys that they were tackled by)
(the 2 boys put one of there hands out to help Alex up and Alex looks up at them)
Alex- W…who are you?
Boy 1- I’m Atticus and he’s DJ. Come on you’ll be late for class.
(Alex gets up on his own)
Alex- Thanks for the help guys but I’m kind of stubborn if you know what I mean.
DJ- Hey that’s cool we are too especially needle nogin here. (DJ playfully flicks Atticus in the head)
Alex- Heh you 2 fight pretty well why don’t we hang out some time?
~back with Alex who is sitting on the steps of the Higurashi shrine~
Alex- Hmph.
(Kagura walks up and sits beside Alex)
Kagura- What’s wrong Alex?
Alex- My past sucks, I’ve only had 2 real friends until I came to your world.
Kagura- You can at least tell me, huh?
Alex- Yeah…..
(Alex tells Kagura about the previously mentioned flashbacks)
Alex- And ever since I met them I gotten better at everything I do.
Kagura- What happened to that other guy, Atticus?
Alex- (Alex clinches his jaw) He’s the other one.
Kagura- You mean?
Alex- Yeah he betrayed me but that doesn’t matter anymore.
Kagura- Why didn’t you seek revenge?
Alex- Because it wouldn’t be right, they’ll get what’s coming to them sooner or later.
Alex- Come to think of it, if it wasn’t for them beating me so much I wouldn’t be able to stand up to what I stand up to now.
Kagura- Well just try not to think about it ok?
Alex- Yeah I try to just let it go.
Kagura- At least you have a past.
Alex- Well having no past is better than having a bad one. Plus that means you have an open ticket to the future, nothing is holding you back.
(Alex and Kagura watch the sun set over Tokyo)
~with Kagura and Alex walking back to the main house of the shrine~
(Alex hears a sound in the bushes and stops)
(Kagura stops and looks back at Alex)
Kagura- What’s wrong?
Alex- Nothing. Say why don’t you go back to the room I’ll be up after while, I want to check something.
Kagura- (shrugs) Ok. (Kagura leaves and goes inside)
(Alex walks around the house)
(A person comes out of the bushes and climbs a tree jumping onto the first story roof without a sound) (The person looks into Kagome’s window) (the person opens the window and goes inside without making a sound) (Alex jumps down in front of the window stealthily and follow the person into the room without them noticing)
Person in a whisper- Damn she is not here.
(Alex puts his hand on the person’s shoulder from behind them)
Person- Oh…crap. (the person turns their head towards Alex)
Alex- Got that right buddy. (Alex punches the person in the face to were they go flying into the opposite wall)
(Alex walks up to light switch and turns the lights on)
Alex- A girl?
(the girls hair is in her face and she pushes it behind her as she stands up)
Alex- Who are you?
Girl- Bastard, hitting a girl what an ass.
Alex- Yeah, yeah. Why are you here?
Girl- Like I’m gonna tell you.
(the girl unsheaths a katana)
Alex- Come on lady who do you think I am? You and I both know you cant fight in a small room like this. Plus that’s not a full use sword.
Girl- What did you say?
Alex- That sword, its just a display sword, its not for use.
Girl- How would you know?!
Alex- Look at the blade, it was sharpened by machines, its too even plus your handle is loose. At the most I’d say that was 420 stainless steel, a display type of steel, just for looks. (Alex smirked)
Girl- W…What are you?
Alex- Me? Oh I’m just a normal smartass. One more thing though. See you never had a chance at this fight before it even got started.
Girl- Wanna bet on that?! (the girl runs at Alex and takes a vertical swing at him) (Alex blocks the swing with his gun)
Alex- See missy you got to be prepared for this new era and everything that comes with it, swords don’t cut it anymore.
Girl- So you plan to shoot me?
Alex- Nah I’m not that bad of a guy but I will disarm you. (Alex grabs the handle of the sword and takes it from the girl) (the girl steps back)
Alex- Your stance was bad too. But that’s not the point here. The point is…. (Inuyasha taps the girl on her shoulder)
((Inuyasha had snuck in as the girl and Alex were talking))
Girl- Not again… (the girl turns around and see Inuyasha)
Inuyasha- Oy.
Alex- So give up yet?
(the girl drops to her knees and starts to cry)
Alex- I’m not falling for that trick. Start to cry then cut me with a hidden weapon as soon as I get close. That’s not gonna happen. Now why are you here?
Girl- I needed the money.
Alex- Psh. Don’t give me that BS, you where here for someone and a girl I might recall. “Damn she’s not here.” Remember?
Girl- (the girl stops crying and stands up) Ok ok. I was here to ask your girl friend something.
Alex- Kagura? Why?
Girl- I was sent to kidnap her so my sender could ask about a guy you apparently know.
Alex in a sarcastic voice- Oh my god why didn’t you just come to me yourself Kairen? (Alex turns around and has his hand on his forehead)
Girl- Idiot. (the girl dashes at Alex and stabs him with a knife and jumps out the window) (Alex falls to one knee holding his stab wound)
Inuyasha- Alex are you ok?!
(Alex stands up)
Alex- Ugh, people these days, no honor what so ever I was going to let her go too.
Inuyasha- Do want me to hunt her down?
Alex- Sure go after her.
(Kagura and Kagome walk into the room as Inuyasha jumps out the window)
Kagome- Where is he going?
Kagura- No, your hurt Alex. (Kagura goes up to Alex)
Kagome- You are let me get the med kit. (Kagome leaves the room)
Alex- Don’t worry about me.
Kagura- Is it a deep wound?
Alex- Nah, its just a small stab.
Kagura- Who did it? Was it Inuyasha?
Alex- Why would he do it? It was a thief that did this. Her knife was sharp but small so it isn’t all that bad of a wound, it’ll be gone in 2 days.
Kagura- Ok then I wont worry too much.
Alex- Good.
(Kagome comes back in the room with a med kit)
(Kagome puts a gauze on the cut)
Kagome- Are you ok?
Alex- I’m ok.
Kagome- Who was it that did that to you?
Alex- A girl thief.
Kagome- That’s a new one, a girl?
Alex- Yeah. I made a stupid move and she caught me off guard.
Kagome- So Inuyasha is after her?
Alex- No he is right there. (Alex points to the window and Inuyasha is coming back in)
Inuyasha- I lost her scent she must have jumped into water or something.
Alex- Pretty fast for a human then. Don’t worry about it. I’m going to bed if you guys don’t mind.
Inuyasha- What if she comes back?
Alex- I’m not worried, she probably wont come back.
(Alex walks out of the room and into the guest bedroom)
(Kagura stays and talks with Inuyasha and Kagome for a bit and then walks into the guest bedroom)
(Alex has already fallen asleep on the floor leaving the bed open for Kagura)
(Kagura sits on the bed and thinks for a minute and then lies down and falls asleep)
~later that night~
(The same girl sneaks up onto the roof but goes to the window of Alex and Kagura’s room)
(The girl opens the window without a sound and walks up beside and then kneels beside Alex)
Girl to herself- I’ll make sure you sleep for a long while. (the girl lifts a knife)
Alex to himself- It’s a good thing I’m a light sleeper.
(Alex grabs the girls hand she is holding the knife in)
Alex- Hello bit**. (Alex punches the girl in stomach with the other hand and Alex takes the knife from her)
Alex- This wasn’t the knife you stabbed me with so lets see. (Alex reaches into the girls pocket and pulls out the other knife)
(Alex holds the girl on the floor and holds the knife to her neck)
Alex- So tell me which one is it? Are you A. Here to kid nap that beautiful girl on the bed. B. Here to rob the shrine. C. Here to talk. D. Here to kill me.
Girl- You are a smartass. (The girl reaches for her pocket) (Alex slaps the hand away and takes the knife out of the girls pocket)
Alex- I’m not an idiot, you don’t have just one knife, cause the knife you stabbed me with is the one I just pulled out of you pocket.
Girl- Go to Hell.
Alex- No thanks. Now answer my question.
Girl- I’m just a common demon trying to kill the 2nd highest devil hunter alive.
Alex- It figures, my reputation gets me into trouble again. But wait you’re not a demon, you’re a half demon aren’t you?
Girl- How did you know?
Alex- I just figured as much since you were able to escape from Inuyasha so quickly. There isn’t any other explanation you can’t fly and there is no water for another half a mile, so you can just jump high so you hid in a tree until Inuyasha gave up.
Girl- I hate your guts.
Alex- Is that something to say to a nice guy like me?
Girl- Nice my ass.
Alex- I grow tired of this conversation. I’m going to drag you outside, if you make so much as one wrong move or one noise, I’ll kill you instantly. Got that? (Alex pulls the girl toward the window and he jumps out onto the roof with the girl, still holding the knife to her neck)
~outside on the ground with Alex and the girl~
Girl- You haven’t figured it out have you?
Alex- Oh, I’ve figured it out. You just cant get your story straight when you have to tell it.
Girl- Then what am I doing here?
Alex- You were hired by a Devil Hunter, a crooked one too. What his name? Atticus isn’t it?
Girl- Yeah how did you know?
Alex- He’s been after me for the last 2 years. If I don’t kill you he will for failing him.
Girl- He wanted me to either kill you or to kidnap your girlfriend.
Alex- Oh well, I guess this is where you get off. Or do you want to live and be killed by him?
Girl- I don’t care, I have no family so no one will miss me.
Alex- Your choice. (Alex tightens his grip on the knife and pulls it closer to the girls neck)
Girl- What are you waiting for?
Alex- I don’t like to kill girls that’s all.
Girl- You know if you let me go I’ll come after you again.
Alex- True but I don’t like killing girls all the same. (Alex lets the girl go and she steps away from him)
Girl- You’re weak. (The girl takes off running down the hill)
Alex- I don’t like killing a girl all the same.
~with Atticus on a rooftop~
(Atticus sees the girl that Alex just let go running through an alleyway)
(Atticus jumps down in front of the girl and she skids to a stop)
Atticus- He let you go eh? (Atticus lifts his sword)
Girl- Please let me go, I’m sorry I’ll go back after him, just give me another chance.
Atticus- No deal, third time is a charm. He might let you join him and I cant let that happen. (Atticus stabs the girl in the chest and she falls onto his shoulder)
Girl- Why? Why did it have to end?
Atticus- Death is just the beginning.
(Atticus drops the girl to the ground)
Atticus- Believe me it’s just the beginning.
