[episode 21]
~Outside Kaede’s hut the day after episode 20 with Alex and Kagura~
(Alex and Kagura are casually walking up the steps behind Kaede’s hut that lead to where Inuyasha was sealed)
Kagura- So what do we do next? We still have 2 days until Inuyasha and the others come back.
Alex- I have no idea, I cant sit still though just knowing DJ is still under Naraku’s grasp.
Kagura- I’ve been meaning to ask you about him, what’s you two’s relation ship as of now?
Alex- Well you see DJ and I go way back. We feel like brothers more than friends. He’s always been there to help me, and I’ve always been there to help him. I don’t have the foggiest clue why DJ would have joined Naraku but I know this; it wasn’t by choice, I can see it in his face.
Kagura- So you two aren’t related?
Alex- No.
Kagura- I cant get what DJ said just before he left last time, out of my head.
Alex- Yeah but I’m more concerned about planning our next move on Naraku, getting him to the Valley of Lost Souls.
Kagura- Oh yeah that.
(Kagura and Alex walked up to the Bone-Eaters well in silence)
(after a while Kagura was sitting on the side of the well while Alex was sitting on ground leaning against the side of the well) (Alex had a headphone on one ear, listening to his mp3 player and was writing on a tablet and thinking every now and then as Kagura watched and gave comments on several things)
Alex- I think that should work perfectly what do you think?
Kagura- Sounds good to me.
(Alex lifted his head suddenly)
Kagura- What’s wrong?
Alex- Master of the Puppets….
Kagura- What about it?
Alex- DJ wasn’t referring to Naraku.
Kagura- How do you know?
Alex- Master of the Puppets is a song done by DJ’s favorite band. Why didn’t I see it before?
Kagura- What’s that got to do with it?
Alex- DJ played guitar for a hobby I bet the answer to his betrayal is in his lyric book.
(Alex stands up)
Alex- I have to go back to my world for a short time, I should be back within an hour, can you wait for me?
Kagura- Sure, I’ve got nothing better to do.
(Alex hurries off and disappears through a thicket of trees)
Kagura- (sighs) I’m just glad I’m not under Naraku’s grasp anymore, I don’t know what it is about Alex but something inside tells me he really does care.
~with Alex in his world~
(Alex just arrives at DJ’s house)
Alex to himself- I really don’t want to go through the hastle of telling his parents what happened and having to explain it. (Alex looks around)
Alex- Hmm I may not have to, it looks like no body is here, I’ll just sneak in and get what I came for and leave.
(Alex walks around to the back of the house and looks in DJ’s room window)
Alex- Looks like nothing has been moved….(Alex lifts the window up only enough to were he can crawl in)
Alex- Let me see…. (Alex fumbles around in DJ’s guitar case until he finds 2 books)
Alex- Here’s the Lyric book but what’s this other one? It’s unmarked. (Alex opens the unmarked book)
Alex- Nothing’s here, It’s all blank. (Alex flips through the pages and a picture falls out with a name written on the back of it.) (Alex picks the picture up and looks at it) (it’s a picture of a Tokyo)
Alex- The name on the back is “Devil Huntress of Tokyo”.
Alex- This doesn’t sound good. If she is who he wants me to see I’m screwed. (Alex leaves the same way he came in with the lyric book and the picture)
~with Kagura at the well~
(Kagura is still sitting on the side of the well)
Kagura- (looks up to see Alex standing in front of her) Whoa. (sits up straight suddenly) Oh sorry I was thinking.
Alex- Ready to go?
Kagura- Go where?
Alex- To Tokyo.
Kagura- Tokyo? What’s that?
Alex- It’s this place in another 500 years.
Kagura- You’re kidding right? How are we supposed to get there?
Alex- Here. (Alex hands Kagura a shikon shard)
Kagura- What’s this for?
Alex- It is so you can come with me, I cant just leave alone while I’m gone to Tokyo.
Kagura- I’m going with you then?
Alex- If you want.
Kagura- (Kagura stands up) Alright then lets go.
Alex- Alright (Alex puts one foot up on the side of the well)
Kagura- What are you doing?
Alex- This is how we get to Tokyo. Trust me ok.
Kagura- Ok. (Alex and Kagura jump down the well and disappear)
~on the other side of the well after Kagura and Alex climb out~
Alex- We made it.
Kagura- Why are we here exactly?
Alex- This is why. (Alex holds up the picture of Tokyo to where Kagura can read it)
Kagura- Devil Huntress of Tokyo….. What’s that got to do with anything?
Alex- DJ left this for me to find in an unmarked book under his lyric book. He must have left some kind of clue with her.
Kagura- She’s a devil hunter though.
Alex- I know, that’s the only problem but if she knows DJ she cant be all that bad.
Kagura- I guess.
(Kagura and Alex walk to the front steps of the Higurashi shrine) (Kagura and Alex look at the view of Tokyo)
Kagura- ………Sugoi ((Amazing in Japanese))
Alex- For real. (Kagura and Alex continue to look at the scenery)
(Inuyasha and Kagome come running up)
(Alex and Kagura hear them and turn around and see them)
Alex- What’s up guys?
Kagome- Alex? How’d you get here?
Inuyasha- And how’d she get here?
Alex- Simple, we came through the well.
Inuyasha- But I thought only me and Kagome could cross through the well.
Alex- Not true, anyone with a good heart and a shikon shard or someone with a strong connection with the Shikon no Tama can cross through the well.
Kagome- Why are you here though?
Alex- This. (Alex hands Kagome the picture he showed Kagura)
Kagome- Devil Huntress of Tokyo. We have devil hunters?
Alex- Yes, many devil hunters are in this part of the world, since demons originated from China and Japan. The Devil Huntress of Tokyo can only be one person…..Kairen. A devil hunter is only given that type of title when he or she is high ranked.
Inuyasha- So she’s a devil hunter? Same as Sango?
Alex- No, they are not the same, Sango is trained to slay demons that cause trouble, where as Kairen and her fellow devil hunters are trained to kill every half, part, and full demon they find.
Kagura- How do you know?
Alex- (sighs) I used to be one, but I didn’t believe it was right so I quit, and the hard part is every devil hunter with the exception of me believes deeply in the tradition of the devil hunter and doesn’t take lightly to deserters of the devil hunter way, meaning me.
Kagome- But she doesn’t even know you.
Alex- Wrong, I’ve met her. DJ and her were in a relationship before he turned on us, if he told anyone something it would have been her. And plus all devil hunters are given a list of fellow devil hunters so they all know who to call on in a tough situation. The list also has ex-devil hunters such as me, so it makes it even harder.
Inuyasha- So you think she knows why he betrayed us.
Alex- She has something I need too.
Kagome- We have to try if there is a chance we can get DJ back. (Kagome starts to walk down the stairs) (everybody else follows her)
~In a back alley in the in the inner city of Tokyo with Kagura, Alex, Inuyasha, and Kagome~
(Alex is leading the others)
Kagome- This is a bad part of the city Alex why do we need to come here?
Alex- Think about it, devil hunters don’t want to be found out by the public so they hide and handle there affairs in the dark from the general population.
(Alex stops at a door with a symbol on it. Alex knocks on the door)
(A man in black and dark red opens the door to where he can see them)
Man- What’d ya want?
Alex- I need to see Kairen.
Man- No one sees Kairen without clearance.
Alex- Don’t test me. (Alex holds up a card with a symbol and ancient writing on it.)
Man- (has a surprised look) C…come in then.
Alex- That’s better. (Alex walks in with the others following close behind)
Man- This way. (The man leads them to a back room) (As they are lead through the dark shop and restaurant people give Inuyasha, Kagura, Alex and Kagome strange looks. A few of the older devil hunters that are standing in the way move out of the way as they see Alex.)
~In the back room with everybody but Kairen~
Man- She will be with you in a moment. (the man leaves and returns to the front)
Kagome- This place gives me the creeps.
Alex- Inuyasha keep your hat on no matter what and go with anything I say, you too Kagura.
(Kagura and Inuyasha nod their heads)
(a minute or 2 passes)
(Kairen walks into the room)
Kairen- (Kairen is clinches her jaw) You….it had to be you.
Alex- (Alex turns to Kairen) Hello Kairen.
Kairen- Bastard…..If you didn’t out rank me I’d throw you out.
Kagome- Out rank you? But I thought you quit the devil hunters Alex.
Kairen- He did, he is still out ranking me, we devil hunters respect ranks even after one of us leaves as much as we don’t like it.
Alex- That’s just tough, I told you guys you needed to change that, but did you listen to me?
Kairen- You said a lot of things.
Alex- I did, but what I’m here for I have to use that to my advantage unless you cooperate.
Kairen- It’s about DJ isn’t it?
Alex- Yes, I need any information he gave you.
Kairen- The last time I saw him he told me a lot, including his feelings for me.
Alex- He did? I need you to tell me everything you know.
Kairen- I figured you would have already known since you 2 are so close friends.
Alex- DJ betrayed me and is being held against his will, being made to do things he doesn’t want.
Kairen- He what? By who?
Alex- Naraku. I’m sure he told you about him.
Kairen- Why and how?
Alex- That’s what I’m here to figure out.
Kairen- Well…..
(Kairen is interrupted by Inuyasha)
Inuyasha- Wait, what is the story on how you and DJ met first, it may be important to know.
Kagome- Good idea, we could use all the info we can get.
Kairen- It happened 1 ½ years ago.
~flashback to when Kairen visited the U.S. after Alex gained the 2nd highest rank in the Devil Hunters~
Kairen- I’m here to present you the mark and card of your new rank. Since I am just under your rank, I was sent by the Head of the Devil Hunters to give you the rank.
DJ- Your moving on up dude.
Alex- Heh I guess.
Kairen- Don’t take this lightly sir, upon receiving this rank you become the 2nd highest ranked Devil Hunter in the world and are now given the title “Devil Hunter of the West”.
Alex- Well lets get this over with. (Alex pulls off his shirt and Kairen uses a knife to carve a symbol into the skin of Alex’s left shoulder blade) (As the knife cuts it also burns the symbol into the skin so it is permanent) (Kairen wipes the blood from Alex and puts a bandage over the cut area)
Alex- What about my old rank?
Kairen- It will disappear soon, due to this knife’s abilities it can only make one cut person. It was crafted for just this in ancient Japan by the greatest blacksmiths from China and Japan.
Alex- Ok. (Kairen hands him a card with the same symbol and ancient writing underneath the symbol)
DJ- What does it say?
Alex- How should I know? I just started studying the Devil Hunters language.
Kairen- You what?
Alex- I just started studying this language.
Kairen to herself- All Devil Hunters are required to start learning the Devil Hunter language after the 2nd month of training and experience, so that means he’s a new member.
Kairen- It says your title along with your name in the Devil Hunter language.
Alex- Ok, well I have to go so, I’ll leave you two alone for now. See ya. (Alex walks off)
DJ- Well…..Kairen was it?
Kairen- Yeah.
DJ- If you have time to hang around I can show you the sights.
Kairen- (Kairen smiles at DJ) Thanks, I’ve always wanted to come to America and see what it’s like.
~back with Kairen, Alex and the other in the Devil Hunter’s back room~
Alex- From there on DJ and you had frequent contact, I didn’t interfere and soon after I quit the Devil Hunters.
Kairen- To think a person like you could surpass me in such a sort time. Tell me why did you really quit? Was it really your beliefs or did someone ask you to?
Alex- Both in a way.
Kairen- Both? How so?
Alex- I didn’t believe killing the good demons was right, they deserve a chance too. And also the Head of the Devil Hunters was afraid I would surpass him within a short amount of time, so hearing that I was skeptical about the ways he thought he would triy to convince me to leave. I told him that I had no intention of taking over the Devil Hunters, in fact I told him I quit as of that day.
Alex- So what did DJ tell you last time he saw you?
Kairen- He said he couldn’t be with me as of now but he reassured me he had deep feelings for me and would come back in the near future. He said he didn’t want to get me involved as much as possible.
Alex- Involved in what?
Kairen- DJ told me he had a cousin that loved ancient Japan so DJ brought him with him there through the portal at your house, he also told me about this as well.
Alex- Ok so?
Kairen- Naraku kidnapped DJ’s cousin and is holding him hostage somewhere. DJ said he wants to destroy Naraku from the inside in the process.
Alex- It makes sense now. Thanks for the info Kairen. (Alex turns and begins to walk out of the room and everybody follows him)
~at the front door of the Devil Hunters shop~
Alex- Kairen, did DJ ever tell you what I really am?
Kairen- What you really are? No why?
Alex- I’m one forth demon.
Kairen- You bastard, your part demon? (Kairen pulls out a 9mm pistol and points it at Alex)
Alex- Kairen I know you don’t like me, you never did.
Kairen- If you knew why did you tell me you’re part demon?
Alex- I’m not the only part demon you know.
Kairen- Who else is there?
Alex- Don’t be stupid, its obvious most of the high ranking young people of the Devil Hunters are part demons.
Kagome- But I thought you said all the half demons died out before now.
Alex- I did, but my sources were wrong, there are still FULL demons alive in this era.
Kairen- That’s not true!
Alex- Idiot, can’t you tell Dante is a half demon?
Kairen- Now you’ve gone too far, I wont let you insult the leader of the Devil Hunters. (Kairen shoots at Alex but Kagura diverts the bullet with a strong gust of wind)
Kagura- You try that again and I’ll shred you. (Kagura holds her fan up)
Alex- Dante the head of the Devil Hunters, brother of Virgil, son of Sparta is a half demon.
Kairen- I don’t believe you.
Alex- Ask him yourself. (Alex points upward and Dante jumps down from the roof of the Devil Hunters shop)
(Kairen drops her gun to her side)
Kairen- Dante? You were listening the whole time?
Dante- Yeah Kairen.
Kairen- Is it true Dante, is Alex telling the truth?
Dante- Yes he is. What are you going to do about it?
Kairen- But I thought the goal of the Devil Hunters was to eliminate all part, half, and full demons.
Dante- It is but I wasn’t the one who started the Devil Hunters, the one who started the Devil Hunters in the ancient times was Ruzai. I tried to change the laws with my influences but I couldn’t so I just hid my identity of being half demon as did so many more.
Kairen- How can you tell if they are hiding the demon side?
Alex- I could always tell because of Dante’s aura in battle. That’s how you can tell, being that Dante has seen almost all of us in battle he knows which ones of us are half demons or not.
Kairen- I’ve seen Dante fight hundreds of times, I’ve never seen his aura, how can you see it?
Alex- it’s a gift.
Inuyasha- Just like seeing the Shikon Shards?
Alex- Yeah.
Kairen- I cant believe it, there are demons all around me and I couldn’t even tell.
Alex- Don’t take it so hard Kairen, why do you think you and DJ can fight so well?
Kairen- S…so you’re saying….
Dante- Kairen you’re ¼ demon as well.
Kairen- No! (Kairen takes off running and rounds a corner and disappears from view)
Kagome- Poor girl.
Dante- I’ll explain everything to her Alex you have a job to do.
Alex- Yeah thanks Dante. Maybe now that more people know about the partial demons in the Devil Hunters things will change for the better.
Dante- I doubt it, things will only get worse, and it will only make things harder that’s why I don’t want you telling anybody.
Alex- Ok if you say so.
(Alex turns around and starts to walk off)
(Alex stops and turns back to Kagome and the others)
Alex- Come on ya’ll we have to get back DJ.
Kagome- That’s it?
Inuyasha- There is nothing more we can do, this is there way of life we don’t want to meddle in affairs that don’t concern us.
(Inuyasha, Kagome, and Kagura follow Alex back to the Higurashi shrine)
~outside the Higurashi shrine’s well house with everybody~
Alex- Well I guess we’ll see you guys in a couple of days.
Kagome- Wait Alex why don’t you stay with us for a while we have plenty of room for you and Kagura.
Alex- It’s Kagura’s decision. (Alex looks at Kagura)
Kagura- W…What? Me? I don’t know. I’m ok where ever we go. But what about DJ?
Alex- There is nothing I can do for him at this point in time. And we still have a day left, we can stay here or we can go back its up to you.
Kagura- Uh well I feel more comfortable here, knowing Naraku cant get here.
Alex- We’ll stay here for the time being then.
Kagome- Ok come on then I’ll show you two around. (Kagome leads all of them to the house)
