FALLEN

CHAPTER THREE: FIRST SIGN

A strong wind brushed across Inuyasha's skin. Very weakly, he fluttered his eyes opened. Trees flew pass him and warm arms embraced him as the person ran. Someone was holding Inuyasha. He suddenly remembered what had happened to him a few moments ago. Startled, he jolted upwards, almost falling over the arms that held him. The arms tightened their grip on Inuyasha. He looked up. Sesshoumaru's golden eyes met his.

"Sess......" Inuyasha stammered, disbelieving.

"Hush!" Sesshoumaru replied, not looking at his little brother in his arms.

It was then Inuyasha noticed that he was wrapped up in a white kimono. He recognized it as Sesshoumaru's possession and his limbs were freed from the chains. Sesshoumaru must have seen his humiliations. He must be laughing deep inside how weak Inuyasha was, how easily he was taken advantage of by Naraku.

Inuyasha felt something sting his eyes. Tears accumulated at his eyes, threatening to fall. This was not fair. His best friends had abandoned him, his worst enemy had raped him, and now his only kin in this world was going to mock him. Inuyasha shivered with shame and anger. He felt lost and empty inside. He was worthless. Since he was born, both youkai and human beings had despised him. What had he achieved? All he created was trouble and sorrow. Everyone around him would have been happier if he was not born. He should not exist in the first place. Why couldn't he just die when his mother passed away? In his life, only his mother had loved him and no one else. He wished he could vanish into thin air immediately.

The warm arms around him tightened and Sesshoumaru stopped. He sniffed the air. The only remaining sign of Naraku's existence was his wasps that flew buzzing among the nearby trees. Naraku would not give Inuyasha up so easily. But Sesshoumaru knew that in the meantime, he would not attack them. He supported Inuyasha with one arm and using another, he gently rubbed at the tears emerging from Inuyasha's eyes.

"Naraku will not touch you again," Sesshoumaru said, not looking at Inuyasha, as if he was muttering to himself. Inuyasha shakingly lifted a hand to touch his own face. He was crying. He quickly rubbed the tears away and took a peep at Sesshoumaru. He caught a glint of anger in his eyes as if someone had taken something very precious from him.

"Sess." Inuyasha began and paused. Sesshoumaru carried him again with both arms and ran through the forest again.

"I'm going to take you to a safe place now."

Inuyasha shuddered. He did not want Jaken and the little girl, Rin, who usually followed Sesshoumaru to see him in this pathetic state.

"I have sent Rin and Jaken to a safe place elsewhere. You and I will be alone there." Sesshoumaru reassured him, as if reading Inuyasha's mind.

The wind around them got stronger and Inuyasha shivered uncontrollably. Sesshoumaru's coat did not possess the same protective power as his red fire mice coat. Sesshoumaru held his little brother closer in his arms.

Sesshoumaru sniffed the air as he ran. He had to make sure that the wasps would not catch up with him. He could feel Inuyasha's hair pressing against his face lightly. The wind made his silver white hair wave in the air, and it tickled his arms and face. He bit his lip, fearing of losing control over himself. The thought of his beautiful younger brother lying naked in his arms made his groin tighten. He had to distract his thoughts immediately.

"Where are your friends?" ,p> Inuyasha's body jerked and he turned his face away. The sour feeling surged up his throat and eyes again. He felt like crying again.

"Forget it, pretend like I never asked." Sesshoumaru snapped sharply. Something might have happened among them. Secretly, he regretted asking such a question. It must have hurt Inuyasha deeply.

"Sleep, you are tired." Sesshoumaru's voice was gentler.

Inuyasha started to close his eyes to rest. He was tired after the fights and the torture in the palace.

Suddenly, Naraku's face and his laughter loomed in his mind. He could feel Naraku's thorny hands running all over his hands, legs and body.

Inuyasha's eyes snapped open. His teeth chattered in fear and he shivered uncontrollably. He waved his hands subconsciously, but the image could not go away. Naraku's laughter was still echoing in his ears.

Sesshoumaru cradled Inuyasha tighter in his arms: "Hush, hush, Naraku will not get you here. You'll be safe." Even Sesshoumaru felt puzzled himself. He had never spoken such a tone to anyone before, not even to Rin. This was the first time.

The scenes around them changed rapidly as Sesshoumaru quickened his pace. The forest was soon thrown behind their backs and they reached wild greenery. A tall majestic waterfall roared before them. The speed of the water slowed and dissolved into a winding river. Mountains and cliffs loomed above them, towering into the clouds. Sparse patches of white snow scattered among the higher parts of the mountains due to cold temperature. Sesshoumaru shook Inuyasha and showed him the place. Inuyasha stared at the waterfall for a long, long time, deeply attracted by the scene.

"We'll be staying in that hut," Sesshoumaru settled Inuyasha's weight in one arm and pointed to a house in valley of two mountains. He glanced at Inuyasha's body.

"Go and take a bath, I'll get something for you to wear." Sesshoumaru said coldly, placing Inuyasha on the ground and went off.

Inuyasha hung the white kimono on a nearby branch and let himself be submerged in the chilling river water. Rubbing his body, he washed every part where Naraku had touched. He did not want to have his enemy's scent on himself. Cold water made his mind clear. He started to figure out his situation. What was Sesshoumaru's motive in rescuing him? Surely he wanted to get his Tetsusaiga again? Inuyasha remembered that his sword was still in Naraku's hand, so what was his brother's motive anyway? Perhaps it was a sudden pity for his pathetic hanyou brother. Now that his friends had the wrong ideas about him, should he try to persuade them back? Kagome would believe him like she always did. He believed they were just in a fit of anger at that moment of time. Inuyasha's eyebrows arched deeper as he tried to recall the incident. He would seek Naraku for revenge when he regained himself.

Sesshoumaru entered the house. He needed some time to cool down his mind. The beautiful image of Inuyasha hugging himself naked in his arms still merged in his mind. His beauty and his vulnerability..... The warmness of his body still lingered on his arms. Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed and tried to erase the thoughts from his mind. He went to open his wardrobe and took out a white kimono with simple designs that he had worn when he was young.

He returned back to the river and found Inuyasha still in the water. His white flowing hair lay floating on the water surface as his jade white skin was semi-exposed in the air. His eyes were closed in meditation. Sesshoumaru stood watching his brother, admiring his beautiful form. Then, he approached his brother and tossed the clothes to him. Inuyasha opened his eyes and grabbed it.

"Thanks, Sesshoumaru," Inuyasha muttered. He suddenly lifted up his head, his golden eyes meeting Sesshoumaru's: "Why did you save me?"

"No reason," Sesshoumaru replied coldly and returned back to the hut.

Inuyasha emerged from the water and put on the article of clothing. It fitted him perfectly. For years, he had been wearing the red fire mice coat and was not used to wear anything so smooth and silky. He felt like he was tarnishing such fine clothes. He walked uneasily back to the hut.

The interior of the house was that of the traditional Japanese style. There was a square pit for the fireplace in the center of the hall. There was not much furnishing. Despite its simplicity, the house was clean and was built with strong, fine wood. It gave Inuyasha a cozy feeling. Sesshoumaru was sitting cross-legged by the fire, staring into it as if pondering something. A pot was set boiling over the supporting stick above the fire.

Inuyasha blushed as he sat opposite his elder brother before the fire. Was this going to be the start of his family life?

Sesshoumaru took a glance at his little brother from the corner of his eyes. He could see Inuyasha's fair skin faintly through the white fabric through the light from the fireplace. Inuyasha sat cross-legged a short distance before him and his bright golden eyes were looking at the fire as he concentrated in thought. He looked so adorable and beautiful in the white kimono. The clothes seemed to bring out his charm that was not seen in him when he wore his red fire mice coat. Sesshoumaru almost smiled within him. Inuyasha's blush made him look extremely cute. He felt like caressing his younger brother's face, but he controlled himself.

Inuyasha sniffed the pot. There was food and he felt hungry. He sniffed and started stirring the food with a chopstick. It was ready to be eaten. He looked up at Sesshoumaru questioning. The latter gave him an approving gaze. Inuyasha took two bowls and filled them up-----one for Sesshoumaru and other one for himself. This was the first family dinner he had with his elder brother. He felt blessed and wished this would go on forever.

Ever since he knew he had an elder half brother, he had always wished to live peacefully with him as one family. However, his brother's hatred and despisement for human beings and hanyou sank his hopes. Having a meal with his brother was like a dream to Inuyasha. If this was a dream, he wished he would never wake up. Perhaps he would look for his friends a few days later when Sesshoumaru decided to go back to Jaken and Rin. Will their relationship be maintained like this forever?

"What are you smiling about?" Sesshoumaru suddenly questioned. Inuyasha was startled.

"Hmm, nothing," Inuyasha muttered embarrassedly. He looked up to Sesshoumaru and asked: "I have a request......"

"What is it?"

"Nii-chan. Can........ Can I call you nii-chan?"

"As you wish." Sesshoumaru's voice was as cold as usual.

The pot was soon empty. Inuyasha gazed around. He did not know what to chat about with Sesshoumaru. He was always so quiet. Inuyasha looked at his brother. He was pausing every now and then during his meal as if in deep thought. Inuyasha got up.

"Where are you going?" Sesshoumaru asked without looking up.

"Uh.., hunting in the nearby forest." Inuyasha hesitated.

Sesshoumaru put down his bowl: "I'll go with you."

The forest was dark under the evening sky. Crickets chattered noisily as the two brothers went past. Sesshoumaru sniffed the air. There was no scent of Naraku. He let Inuyasha hunt alone. He went to mediate under a tree.

Inuyasha listened to his surroundings. Strange, he could not detect the faintest sound. What had happened to his sharp hearing? He sniffed and panicked. His sharp sense of smell was gone. He looked up into the sky. A half moon shone over the far horizon. It was not a new moon night yet. What had happened to him?

A rustle was heard behind Inuyasha. He leaped at the sound. It was probably a little animal. Suddenly, a hairy, clawed hand stretched out of the bush and grabbed Inuyasha's neck.

"What have I got here? A tasty little human brat for dinner!" A creepy voice chuckled.

"Who are you calling a human brat?!" Inuyasha snarled. He stretched his clawed hand and swung at him: "Sankon Tetsusou!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

No curved blow came out. A youkai merged from the bush, still holding Inuyasha by his neck. He was at least two times Inuyasha's height and size.

"My nose tells me that, human brat!" the youkai roared.

"What happened?" Inuyasha whispered to himself in shock. He was losing his youkai strength. He tried to slash the youkai with his claws, but with no results.

"Are you scratching my back, you little human brat?" the youkai chuckled: "Now its my turn!" He stretched out his other hand and pulled opened Inuyasha's top kimono, revealing his smooth chest.

He pinned Inuyasha on the ground by his neck and flew his claws at Inuyasha's chest, preparing to dig his heart out. Inuyasha struggled, but it was futile.

Warm sticky liquid splashed onto Inuyasha's face and the youkai's body flew apart.

"Are you alright?" Sesshoumaru's tall white figure stood before Inuyasha. Inuyasha nodded. Supporting himself with a hand, he struggled up from the ground.

Suddenly, the world started whirling around him. He caught sight of a stunned look in Sesshoumaru's gaze and everything turned black.

Sesshoumaru caught Inuyasha in his arms before he collapsed onto the ground. Inuyasha's eyes were tightly shut and his face was very pale. Sesshoumaru cradled Inuyasha in his arms and stroked Inuyasha's smooth white hair gently, pushing away some strands of hair from his face.

"......I'll come for Inuyasha again and I'll have my very first offspring from the body of an Inu hanyou in a few months time. It'll absorb all the youkai abilities in Inuyasha's blood. He'll not be able to escape from me. Kukukukuku......." Naraku's words echoed in Sesshoumaru's mind.

Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed. Was this the first sign of Naraku's curse? He tightened his hold over Inuyasha protectively. Inuyasha's face leaned against the elder brother's chest peacefully as if believing his elder brother would protect him from all dangers. He looked so innocent and vulnerable in Sesshoumaru's arms.

Very gently, Sesshoumaru lifted Inuyasha up and carried him back to the house. Inuyasha's arms hung limply to the ground. Sesshoumaru gazed once again at Inuyasha's sleeping form. All doubts of Naraku's words had vanished. He would launch his attack on Inuyasha again. Sesshoumaru made up his mind. When the time came, he would kill Naraku's offspring if it posed serious threats to their lives. Knowing that Inuyasha would lose all his youkai power, Sesshoumaru decided to stay by Inuyasha's side until Naraku was destroyed. He would not let Naraku touch even a strand of Inuyasha's hair. Sesshoumaru bent his head and kissed Inuyasha gently on his forehead.

~ Drip! Drip! Drip! ~~

Trickles of rainwater accumulated and dropped down from the withered tree branches with small splashes. A bare foot stepped down onto a puddle of water on the barren soil and continued its way. The air was moist. The surroundings looked as dark as night due to the dense overlying branches and the night sky.

"Inuyasha..............." A voice called.

The owner of the foot suddenly jerked his head up. His long black shiny hair swayed gracefully as he turned towards the direction of the voice.

"I........." The eerie voice continued.

"Nar.....Naraku........?" Inuyasha hissed under his breath.

".... I ...... want .... you, Inuyasha......."

Suddenly, an invisible force swirled around Inuyasha as his legs were forcefully spread wide apart and being lifted up and Naraku's erect member appeared between his legs. Naraku thrusted. With one hand, he fondled Inuyasha's manhood roughly. The other thorny hand ran up and down Inuyasha's smooth thighs and he was laughing at the top of his voice as he violated Inuyasha over and over again.

"AAAGGGH!!!!" Inuyasha screamed and jerked up. He was lying safe on a mattress with Sesshoumaru sitting just besides him.

Still remembering the nightmare, Inuyasha huddled himself and shivered in fear.

"A nightmare?" Sesshoumaru asked emotionlessly.

"Nii-chan," Inuyasha lifted his face, a glint of fear still lingering in his golden eyes, "Can I sleep with you tonight?"

Inuyasha hated to reveal his fear so easily, but he found himself reaching a limit. He NEEDED someone to stay with him. Sesshoumaru nodded. Climbing onto the mattress, he cradled Inuyasha in his arms and let his hands run through Inuyasha's long snowy hair. Gradually, Inuyasha's eyes closed peacefully as he finally slept. Sesshoumaru did not sleep. Throughout the night, he gazed at his beautiful little brother with softened eyes. He would never let anyone see such a sight for it reflected his softness and weakness.

Subconsciously, Inuyasha snuggled his face closer into his elder brother's chest. His canine like ears twitched slightly on top of his head. A little sound like a purr emitted from his throat contentedly. Sesshoumaru caressed his hair, gazing into his innocent face.

In his slumber, Inuyasha muttered under his breath: "I.. love you, Nii- chan...."

Sesshoumaru's face softened. Inuyasha, do you love me as your elder brother or will you accept me as your lover as I wish you to? You'll never know how much I feel for you, Inuyasha, how I have been following you for more than 60 years and the effort I have put into protecting you without letting you sense my presence. I will stop at nothing to protect you and your possessions just to keep your heart at ease. You probably never dreamed that my past attacks and assaults to you are just my way of showing affection so that you can become stronger and take care of yourself. Now that you have lost all of your strength, I will have to look after you personally. You have always wanted to become a full youkai. Would you be able to take the shock if you know what Naraku has done to you? Would you, Inuyasha?

Of course, Inuyasha could not hear Sesshoumaru's inner thoughts. He shifted his face in his elder brother's arms, a hand resting on his brother's chest in a feather-light manner and continued his sleep.

****************************AUTHOR NOTE*****************************

kukukuku, end of chapter 3, I'm still updating. Hope you all aren't bored with this fanfic. Inuyasha has been very strong in manga and anime. I am rather tired of him always have to protect other people and he having to bear all responsibility to prevent almost everyone around him from being hurt especially Kagome (hmm, don't get me wrong, I'm not Kagome-hater, I'm just frustrated of some parts in the manga about Inuyasha having to care about other people's feeling, but very few bother about HIS feelings.) I made him more vulnerable in this fanfic so that Sesshoumaru (another character who always seldom think about his own feelings, but I pity Inuyasha more) will have more chance to protect him. Since my fanfic is under the category of angst, expect something more wicked later, kukukukuku!!!
