Conference and Symposium

The conference and the symposium will be held in Cairo, Egypt to increase the attendance of foreign engineers and others in related fields. It is anticipated that those from countries will take advantage and visit Egypt to have more interaction and knowledge transfer with the local groups.

5th Regional Conference & 5th Int. Symposium Themes

The 5th Civil Engineering Technology & 5th International symposium in the Middle East are to show that Civil Engineering is a global profession with a focus on economics and natural resources preservation and utilization.
The issues to be discussed are related to the performance of engineered systems for sustainable development and the role of quality assurance and Quality Control in Civil Engineering, and environmental hydrology beside other multi-disciplines in infrastructure development. Papers are invited in the following areas:

The technical program will consist of several sessions with invited speakers and selected contributors. Please submit an abstract of not more than 300 words for the consideration of the scientific committee. Symposium Language
The conference will be conducted in English. No simultaneous translation will be available. All published material associated with the conference will be in English.

Registration fee per person includes the reception, lunches, coffee breaks, etc. and a copy of the proceedings volume. Fees should be paid by a check or money order to Conference & Symposium 2007 chair. Non-refundable deposit of $50 for non-Egyptians or LE.100 for Egyptians should be submitted with the full paper to ensure participation. It will be deducted from the registration fee.

Location and lodging:

 

The conference and Symposium will take place in the Concorde El Salam Hotel which is close to El- Shams Club in Heliopolis ,Cairo-Egypt. The hotel is within 10 minutes by taxi from Cairo International Airport. A special conference rate for lodging will be awarded to the participants who will contact the hotel before August 15, 2007. Scholarships:

 

There will be a limited numbers of scholarships for the young engineers who will present successful papers from the developing countries. The scholarship will only cover part of the travel and accommodation expenses. Applicants should send the abstracts and fill the registration form in the web site before April 20, 2007. Upon receiving the abstract acceptance the applicants should send their papers by May 31, 2007.

 

Prizes:

 

There will be a limited number of prizes for the best papers presented by participants from developing countries. The prizes will be announced at the end of the closing ceremony.

Field Trips

Two field trips will be arranged. The first field trip will be included in the registration fees. The program of the trip includes a visit to Suez Canal University, a boat ride in Temsah lake after which lunch will be served in the Sail Club of Suez Canal Authority. The second field trip is optional . the program of 2nd field trip includes a visit to Sharm El Shiekh City and Saint Catherine monastery in Sinai. The price of the 2nd trip depends on the number of interested participants.

The fees should be payable to:

Egyptian Society of Irrigation Engineers for Local Checks; and
in the name of the Conference & Symposium Chairman for Foreign Checks.

A4

2- Margins :

Left, top, bottom and right 1" (2.5 cm/25mm)

3- Spacing :

Single line spacing, with a black line between paragraphs.

4- Font :

Time New Roman with font size:
14 for the Title (Bold Title Case)
12 for the Author's Name/Authors' Names (Bold)
11 for the affiliation.
12 for Abstract heading (Bold Title case)
12 for the caption of Figures and Tables
12 for the text and headings:

Main : Bold Title case

Subheadings: Italics Title case

Lower level headings: Italics with first letter cap
10 for the footnote

5- Title Page :

Please leave 5 blank lines from the top margin of the first page. Then write the title in the text line.

Title :

Title case , bold and centered
The title should preferably be no more than 70 characters in length, including spaces between words and should be in capital letters.

Author :

Leave one line blank between the title of the paper and the Author's name/Authors' names. Leave two lines blank between the author(s) and abstract. Affiliation should consist of only the Department and name of the Organization, city, zip/postal code, state/province, Country, and e-mail address. It should be placed in the footnote and should be numbered according to their order.
Authors' names should be centered

Abstract :

Abstract should be about 300 words.
After abstract leave one line blank.

6- Headings & Text :

Headings: Left justified bold.
Leave one line blank before and after heading. Each paragraph should be separated by one blank line without any indentation.
All text should be left and right justified typed in single column on one side of the paper.
Emphasized text (if any) should be written in italics.
Acknowledgements (if any) should be written after the conclusions.
No underlines or footnotes {except in the first page}.

7- Equations :

Typed and numbered in sequence.
Use equation editor.
Equation number in brackets right justified.

8- Figures & Tables :

Centered and numbered in sequence.
The caption of the Table should be placed above and centered.
Leave one line blank before and after Tables/Figures. The first letter of the caption should be in capitals.
Figures and Tables can be prepared using any Graphics software.
Alternatively, Figures may be drawn using Indian Ink on tracing paper, arranged at appropriate places in the text in the hard copy or originally printed if AutoCAD is used.

9- References :

Each reference should be sited in the text by the last name(s) of the author(s) and the year of publication of the reference.
All references should be listed in alphabetical order at the end of the text in sequence in which they appear in the text according to the last name of the first named author.
References should include year of publication, full title, name of source, volume and page numbers.
References should be separated by one blank line.

10- Page numbers :

Page numbers should be inserted on bottom-centered in Times new roman font size 10.

11- Maximum length :

The total number of pages is not restricted but should preferably be even.
