| Aomori is blessed with plenty of snow each winter, and local resorts on Mt. Iwaki offer great skiing for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. Getting to Ajigasawa Ski Resort (Mt. Iwaki) From Shariki Head south on Route 12 (the main road through Shariki) towards Kizukuri and Ajigasawa. After about 5kms you will come to a tricky fork in the road with Route 2 branching straight ahead and Route 12 branching off to the right. Make sure that you stay on Route 12 towards Ajigasawa. Follow Route 12 for another 15kms or so until it dead ends into Route 101. Turn left at the light here onto Route 101. Turn right at the next light on Route 39 ("Earthtop" roadside station will be on the right hand side at this light). Follow this road for about 8kms as it twists its way up towards the mountain. Turn right at the stop sign where the road dead ends. Turn left at the next light and follow this road up to the resort. From Kashiwa From the Petras (gas station) exit of the Jusco Shopping Mall, turn left on Route 101 towards Ajigasawa. Follow this for about 7kms, at which point you will come to a light with the "Earthtop" roadside station on the left hand side. Turn left at this light onto Route 39. Follow this road for about 8kms as it twists its way up towards the mountain. Turn right at the stop sign where the road dead ends. Turn left at the next light and follow this road up to the resort.
