I have made a really simple version of 'EndNote' (called BaseNote)
in Excel which I use to manage my essay references and produce the foot/end
notes and the biblography.
It is a fairly basic system (will not do formatting like underline or italics)
and does require some manual editing.
The first worksheet (References) has been left blank for your comfort and convience
- the second worksheet (Sample) shows how it works - the output is in columns
N to R which you copy and paste into your essay.
It works by entering all the info (Author, journal, volume, web address, etc.) in the correct column and then doing a big fat CONCATENATE statement to produce the different citation formats (In Text Cite, Journal Cite, Web Cite, Mag Cite, Book Cite). I think this one is based on the Harvard style, but any other style can be produced from the basic information
It is all quiet rudimentary and user unfriendly at the moment. If you want to use it please talk to me first. If enough people are interested and bribe me with hard or soft liqour I can add some bells and whistles and make it easier to use.
Please don't just start using it and then come to me before a deadline panicing because it has changed 3 months work into links to Viz magazine....
