Here are quick setup instructions if you can't be bothered or are having trouble using trn. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Open up Pine session as normal. Hit S for Setup to configure your Pine options. Enter C for Config at the prompt Scroll down with the arrow keys to the field that reads nntp-server and Hit Enter Enter agate.berkeley.edu and hit Return to accept Hit E to exit Setup, and then hit Y to accept changes. (you should get a message saying Configuration changes saved) Hit Q to exit your Pine session. When you start a new pine session and hit L to see your folder list, you should now have two folders that look like this: Mail Local folders in mail/ News on agate.berkeley.edu/nntp News groups on agate.berkeley.edu/nntp Scroll down with the arrow key until the second folder (News) is highlighted, then hit Enter. Hit A to Add a newsgroup Enter the newsgroup name you would like to add, such as ucb.class.cs61c, then hit Enter. (you should get the message 'Subscribed to ucb.class.cs61c') You can now use the arrow key to select ucb.class.cs61c, hit Enter, and see all the newsgroup messages! Read and post messages as you normally would with Pine! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, that was my contribution for the week. Hope it was helpful. Do feel free to publish on the course website if you'd like -- maybe it'll generate more newsgroup posts. --Frances E. Uku feu@cory.eecs.berkeley.edu
