Multimedia applications can include many types of media. The primary characteristic of a multimedia system is the use of more than one kind of media to deliver content and functionality. Multimedia items generally fall into one of five main categories and use varied techniques for digital formatting.
Text in multimedia systems can express specific information, or it can act as reinforcement for information contained in other media items. This is a common practice in applications with accessibility requirements. For example, when Web pages include image elements, they can also include a short amount of text for the user's browser to include as an alternative, in case the digital image item is not available.
Digital image files appear in many multimedia applications. Digital photographs can display application content or can alternatively form part of a user interface Graphic design software programs such as Photoshop and Paint.NET allow developers to create complex visual effects with digital images.
Audio files and streams play a major role in some multimedia systems. Audio files appear as part of application content and also to aid interaction. Web services can also stream audio, so that users can begin playback before the entire file is downloaded.
Digital video appears in many multimedia applications, particularly on the Web. As with audio, websites can stream digital video to increase the speed and availability of playback. Common digital video formats include Flash, MPEG, AVI, WMV and QuickTime. Most digital video requires use of browser plug-ins to play within Web pages, but in many cases the user's browser will already have the required resources installed.
Animated components are common within both Web and desktop multimedia applications. Animations can also include interactive effects, allowing users to engage with the animation action using their mouse and keyboard. The most common tool for creating animations on the Web is Adobe Flash, which also facilitates desktop applications.
Multimedia has played an important role in our lives whether in the education, business or medical field. It is considered the best source to know of the happenings of the world. Media has the power to influence our thoughts via newspapers, internet, magazine, television and radio. These influences can be either negative or positive on our daily lives.
The media has made it possible for countries to communicate with each other and share information from a distance away. This enables individuals to know about anything in any part of the world within minutes. It is also a link between a countries higher power (the government) and it citizens since the activities and policies done by the government are advertized using various types of multimedia to distribute information.
Multimedia has also played a major role in the education sector. It has made it easier for students to complete projects and assignments that are based on topics beyond their knowledge. Along with attaining information the different types of media such as text, image, animation etc. would enable students to organize and display their work in a professional manner. Teachers also benefit from multimedia as it would help them organize events and make announcements to the general public.
In the business world advertizing is a must and the use of multimedia has made it easier and much more effective. Businesses are now able to display a wide range of products to the public with ease which makes the division process of individuals easier and more convenient.
The media has made it possible for individuals to know important facts about their surroundings, for example they would be able to about the weather patterns via television so that they can make preparations.
Media is the most influential one for the people to resort violence. Studies have suggested that the exposure to violence on television, movies and video games make the children more aggressive, fearful, less trusting and more accepting of violence. This does not mean that they will start bringing weapons in the school but they will be more aggressive and less trusting towards their friends, teachers and siblings. Some of them may carry out same violent act that they see in the violent programs and eventually become more disposed to commit acts of violence.
In the past, news about some murder, accidents etc. were used to be published in simple sentences or we can say in a way to just inform the people about a particular happening. But now all has changed. Today news is published in an exaggerated manner to attract the attention of people. This is against the ethics of journalism. So instead of being constructive, media plays a destructive role. People who read much of these news or view excessive violence on television, trust less and take the world more frightening than it is.
Some advertisements try to influence the people by telling them the importance of branded items. As a result children and youngsters become status conscious and thinks that by using these items they can show their high status in the society. To fulfill their needs or to impress others they many times go violent to get money.
So we can say that media greatly affects our lives both negatively and positively. It must give us factual information and fair analysis of a situation, news etc. Media also works in the way to help, liberate and empower the people.
Deployment is all of the activities that make a software system available for use.The general deployment process consists of several interrelated activities with possible transitions between them. These activities can occur at the producer side or at the consumer side or both. Because every software system is unique, the precise processes or procedures within each activity can hardly be defined. Therefore, "deployment" should be interpreted as a general process that has to be customized according to specific requirements or characteristics.
