It is so hard to find exactly what you want to play; since
there are so many different kinds of species different forms of classes, but I hopefully
will try to give you an easy way to pick your character. I wish it was easy as
just start playing, but we chose to make it complicated, so it would remain fun
in the long run. When choosing your character you have to keep in mind what exactly
the character role calls for. I mean if you want to be a travel, and travel
with all the other players through out the worlds, then don’t choose some thing
that stays still, like a mayor or something. So the first things you
need to do, is identify what you want to do. Think what would
you want to be doing if you were in a world with all sorts of evil
creatures and magic and what not. Where would you be in all of it. Don’t get distracted with benefits, and abilities that
some species and classes might get, and most of all don’t rely on movies as
your guide to the way species and classes work. Every one has their own view of
what an elf is, so don’t rely on a movie or a book to tell you what an elf is
in this world, ask a Gm, or look up on the web page www.angelfire.com/realm/wwrpg to
see what they are. Secondly about if for the long
term. Remember this game is a long term game,
the best part about it is making history in the game. That involves time. A
perfect example of choosing for the length is Dronin,
when that character was made the player thought very hard about choosing him,
because he is a wizard, it makes it very hard to get through the first 200
level (which is a LONG time), then after that the wizard slowly becomes the
most powerful, and now Dronin probably lays as the
most powerful character in the game. But not just because his
level, mainly because he chose to take the difficult path of a wizard. A
warrior is just the opposite, he is good in the begin
and good at high levels as well. So take time into consideration. Thirdly,
and finally consult with other players, and maybe with the Gm, about the
choice you are going to make. They will help you a lot decided whether that
class is a good class for you.
All species and classes have their own advantages in their
own way. Finding the exact one you want should take longer then a minute or
two, because once he is up, he is up for good.
