" Hi all you EXPATS spread all over the world!!!!!
Hmm missing Warrington at times believe it or not. Actually I think I am missing you all and our high flying lifestyle of travel and romanace and fine food and weather (some of that obviuosly didn't happen in Warrington). Perhaps what I am really missing is that enthusiasim we all had for life while we were there.. what's new to see, what should we do, how do we chose, lets go to London, Paris for the weekend. We really were pretty lucky to have such a great group of people to live it up with. But I am still enjoying life just not as much.
Rob and I are slowly settling back into life in Wellington. I've been working almost 2 months now and starting to learn the finer points of the personalities around me. We are in a little flat (1 bedroom) above our landlords house (better than below) and just saving a bit of money and thinking about buying a house or not! It is a good location. Gets loads of sun, I can walk to work in 25 minutes (home in 35) bike there in 10 minutes (home in 20) and drive in 10 minutes so it is pretty nice. Rob has a bus every 10 minutes he can take down into the CBD so it's pretty convienent and good for Friday and Sat nights into town. By the way we are on a big hill!!! So it's good exercise coming home and takes a bit of effort!
Work is pretty good, the staff generally pretty friendly but do need a bit of a push to go for drinks. I seem to have found some regualar Friday drinking buddies (OT's and SLT's) but the PT's have gone a few times as well.
Am starting to enjoy the city a bit more now that the weather has calmed down and we have had some very fine weekends the relax in. Rob is doing his best and taking me to all these great little places to ride our mountain bikes and I am getting into it a bit more. Rob is away this weekend (Thurs to Tues) so I have been left on my own to make friends and entertain myself (hence email!!!) actually I had a very busy Saturday mountain biking with a friend and dinner and movie with another so I am not too bored. Our day light savings ends today and I thought I should use my extra hours getting in touch with those I miss.!!! Have found my favourite café (actually I went to it once 2 years ago as well). It is on the ocean where the ferry's go past to leave to the south Is. It is called the Chocolate fish and need I say more, really yummy food and hot chocolates and coffees! Beautiful views of the water and land on the other side (not the south Island but the other side of the inlet where the ferry's come into Wellington harbour). The coast line is pretty fantastic and really nice to cycle around or run or walk on a fine day.
Just had Dugall and his mated here for a few days and it was really nice to catch up with them and a good laugh as always. Looking forward to catching a glimpse or two fo Shelley while she is here and hope to see more of you soon. We are off to Gisborne for Easter (Rob's parents place) and one of the few areas in NZ I havn't explored yet so I am looking forward to it.
Am starting to think about coming to Canada to see my new neice or nephew this summer (North American summer). Might look into flying into SanFransisco and doing a bit of a tour up to Vancouver. Are your guys still where I think you are, Brian and Shannon at Walnut Creek and Augusto and Carrissa in Portland (when so you guys get back there?) Karen and Andrew in LA? I am thinking of coming in either July to catch a friends wedding (about the 16th) or in September. Also do you know of the cheaper airlines to fly with? Might try to arrange some internal flights etc.
Hope youa re all well and enjoying the onset of summer!!!!! Let me know what you are up to
Luv Carla
