PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY

Born to a pair of doctors, Ian was expected from birth to become one as well. His mother was a veterinarian who specialized in farm animals. His father on the other hand was a well known surgeon at local hospital. Unfortunately due to his parent’s professions, he spent most of his time alone. From the time he was born he was mostly under the supervision of his nanny, a woman named Eliza Wood. Eliza worked for his family until the day he graduated high school. When he started primary school she would walk him to school in the morning and pick him up after school in the afternoon.

It was when he reached high school that Ian discovered he had a dream to go into space. Space travel had only just begun, and most were still unsure if it would actually take off so to speak. Many were skeptical of what would come from exploring unknown galaxies. His parents were against space exploration completely, thinking that if so far nothing good had come of it, nothing would. They kept their heads on earth and into their work. Ian on the other hand felt his head floating into space. He excelled in his astronomy class, absorbing every bit of information he could. His parents of course rolled their eyes when he told them about his dreams of being on a space ship. They told him he was a delusional 14 year old boy and to focus on science.

So Ian stopped confiding his dreams and hopes to his parents and instead turned to his friend and nanny, Eliza. She encouraged him in school and told him that nothing was impossible, that someday he to could go to the stars. She encouraged him to follow his dreams and never forget them.

If only life was this easy. The older Ian got the more pressure he came under to go into a medical field. Unfortunately, Ian showed a strong aptitude in the field of science, and this only made his parents pestering worse. He found himself getting summer jobs and hospitals and veterinary clinics as well as going on trips to prestigious medical schools.

He found it hard to have a social life outside of school. School was his escape from home, a home filled with high expectations. His friends on the other hand held no such expectations for him. He wasn’t a great athlete but he enjoyed playing football and rugby with his friends during break. He had a few girlfriends during his high school years, falling hard for one in particular. A woman who stole his heart and then disappeared from his life.

His parents never did approve of his girlfriends, and this one was no different. Her name was Alexis and she was the same age as him. Unfortunately she had decided to study astronomy, a subject that his parents had no love for. The pair were inseparable during the middle years of high school. But then her family was transferred to London, and she was whisked out of his life. They kept in touch for a short time afterwards, but to no avail. As young love normally does, this one fell apart.

So Ian finished high school and took his O levels, acing the tests in math, physics, biology, chemistry, and astronomy. His parents instantly shoved colleges that were prestigious for their medical coursework in front of him. Reluctantly, he picked a college out of a hat and began his schooling in medicine.

What Ian found over his years at college was that he truly enjoyed medical practice. He found he had quite a knack for medicine. But Ian never lost his love of astronomy and space. During his college and medical school career he studied astronomy and also began to college information on the academy. The academy was still a fairly new establishment to train doctors for space travel. He was torn between living out his parents dream, and following his own heart.

Throughout his time at college he remained in close contact with his childhood nanny, Eliza Wood. Over his years in college they communicated regularly through letters. She always encouraged him to go for his dreams. When he mentioned possibly applying to the academy, she told him to go for it.

After it was all over, Ian graduated in the top 15% of his class. His parents came to his graduation, tears in their eyes. The first thing his father said to him after graduation was that now he had a job in his office. Ian looked at both his parents and informed them t hat he had decided to go to the academy instead. He could see the look of disappointment in their eyes, but knew that he was doing the right thing for him.

HOBBIES Ian enjoys sports of all sorts. He his not overly adept at one in particular, but will give anything a try once. He jogs regularly to stay in shape though. He enjoys reading novels of all sorts from biographies to fiction.
