Marauders
Arclight(Phillipa
Sontag; former soldier, now assassin; mutant)
Phillipa Sontag served with the American ground forces in Viet Nam,
and she is still haunted by memories of that place. She has
redirected her rage into body building, which she uses to augment
her mutant abilities. The details of her recruitment by Mr.
Sinister to the group of assassins known as the Marauders remain
unrevealed, but she has participated in all of the major Marauder
operations. Presumably, she remains at large.
Sontag can direct a wave of
kinetic energy at will by striking a victim with her hands or feet.
This typically creates a massive shockwave damaging and/or
disorientating all within line-of-fire. Sontag's silver suit
provides body armor.

Blockbuster
(real name unrevealed; assassin; mutant)
Not much has been revealed regarding the early life of the mutant known as
Blockbuster. The details of his recruitment by Mr. Sinister to the group
of assassins known as the Marauders remains similarly unrevealed. During
the Morlock massacre, Blockbuster was killed from a single blow by the
thunder god Thor. The assassin reappeared among the Marauders during the
demon invasion of New York, and died again. He has reappeared as a member
of the Marauders on occasion.
Blockbuster's mutant physiology grants him superhuman strength and
resistance to injury.
Harpoon
(real name unrevealed; assassin; mutant)
Not much has been revealed regarding the early life of the Inuit (Eskimo)
mutant known as Harpoon. The details of his recruitment by Mr. Sinister to
the group of assassins known as the Marauders remains similarly unrevealed.
During the demonic invasion of New York, Harpoon was killed in a conflict
with the X-Men. The assassin reappeared among the Marauders on occasion.
Harpoon is a mutant with the superhuman power to transform longitudinal
objects into various unknown forms of energy. He can imbue any such object
with this energy, but the amount of energy varies with the size of the
object. Harpoon must thrown the object in order to transform it into
energy. By throwing it, he can also charge the object with energy without
actually transforming it to energy. Depending on the form of energy with
which he imbues them, Harpoon's weapons can stun, paralyze, kill, explode,
or disintegrate a living victim or inanimate target.
Malice
(psychic entity, assassin, deceased)
Not much is known about the history or origin of the psychic entity known
as Malice except that it served the villain Mr. Sinister and was planned
to lead his team of mutant-killing villains, Marauders, in an appropriate
vessel.
In its first known activity, Malice
possessed the mutant, Dazzler, using her to create chaos at the nightclub
Dazzler was performing at. This prompted the hero team known as the X-men
to investigate Dazzler's strange behavior. In the ensuing fight, Malice
also took control of X-men Rogue and Wolverine, but when the entity
attempted to master Storm, the team leader's willpower proved to be the
stronger of the two and drove Malice away.
When the Marauders attacked the former X-men
Havok and Polaris (Lorna Dane), Polaris single-handedly and ruthlessly
defeated the villain team, only to be revealed that it was actually Malice
who had taken possession of Polaris, and declared herself leader of the
Marauders. Malice, in Polaris' body, led the Marauders on several missions,
including the failed attempt to capture Madelyne Pryor.
Later, Malice found out that it was
permanently bonded with Lorna Dane's psyche, due to some part of Polaris'
nature. She momentarily rebelled against Mr. Sinister for keeping the
knowledge of the bonding a secret, but the disloyalty was quickly replaced
by obedience when Mr. Sinister exercised some of his considerable power on
Malice. About the same time, a demon invasion was occuring in New York
City, and Malice/Polaris led a Marauder attack on the hero teams X-men and
X-factor, but she escaped.
Malice/Polaris began to wander the Earth.
Eventually, Lorna Dane was able to wrest limited control over Malice and
at one point was able to call Havok and the X-men for help. While waiting
for the help to arrive, Malice/Polaris was captured by hunters sent from
the Antarctic paradise Savage Land. The hunters brought her to Zaladane,
the current self-appointed ruler of the Savage Land. Using technology left
behind by the villainous High Evolutionary, Zaladane who claimed to be
Polaris' sister, absorbed all of Polaris' power. Malice appeared to be
destroyed in the transfer.
In fact, she did not die, but remained
out of sight for many months. Eventually, Malice went after Polaris,
intending to kill her in fears that Sinister would want to permanently
bond them again at some point. At the same time, Sinister's then-current
henchmen, the Nasty Boys, were sent to hunt Malice down. The end result of
this double manhunt was a three-front battle between the Nasty Boys,
Malice, and Havok and Polaris. Ultimately, both Havok and Polaris tried to
absorb Malice to prevent the other from being possessed. As a result,
Malice perished, torn between two psyches, and the Nasty Boys fled the
scene, deducing that the conflict had no meaning anymore.
The entity known as Malice was an energy
being without physical form. In energy form, Malice could only be hurt by
energy of the same sort. Malice could move through solid objects and has
no need to eat, breathe, or sleep. Malice was unable to affect the
physical world except by possessing someone.
Malice has the ability to possess a human
host and force him or her into submission. Malice's typical form of
persuasion was appearing in a mirror and getting the subject to agree that
life could be better if they would use evil means to gain the result. Once
the victim was possessed, Malice used the host's memories and abilities as
desired. Malice fed by forcing the host to perform evil actions.
Prism
(real name unrevealed; assassin; mutant)
Not much has been revealed regarding the early life of the mutant known as
Prism. The details of his recruitment by Mr. Sinister to the group of
assassins known as the Marauders remains similarly unrevealed. During the
Morlock massacre, Prism was thrown again the wall by the telekinetic
Marvel Girl (now, Phoenix). The assassin reappeared among the Marauders
during the demon invasion of New York, and died again. He has reappeared
as a member of the Marauders on occasion.
Prism's mutant physiology grants him a crystalline body capable of
reflecting various forms of energy back towards their sources. By
refracting ambient light, his body can give off a blinding burst of light.
Riptide
(Janos Quested; assassin; mutant)
Not much has been revealed regarding the early life of the mutant known as
Riptide. The details of his recruitment by Mr. Sinister to the group of
assassins known as the Marauders remains similarly unrevealed. Horrified
by Riptide's brutality during the Morlock massacre, the X-Man Collossus
killed Riptide. The assassin reappeared among the Marauders during the
demon invasion of New York, and died again. He has reappeared as a member
of the Marauders on occasion.
Quested has the mutant ability to spin at superhuman speeds, appearing as
little more than a blur. When spinning, Riptide hurls shuriken (throwing
stars) and spikes at deadly speeds.
Scalphunter
(Grey Crow; assassin; mutant)
Not much has been revealed regarding the early life of the mutant known as
Scalphunter. The details of his recruitment by Mr. Sinister to the group
of assassins known as the Marauders remains similarly unrevealed, but he
has participated in all of the major Marauder operations. Presumably, he
remains at large.
Crow has the mutant power to manipulate mechanical components, assembling
them into a variety of different configurations by modifying their shape
and construction. He typically wears s costume that gives him easy access
to a wide variety of components to manipulate. He regularly assembles a
wide variety of firearms and projectile weapons from his vest.
Scrambler
(Kim Il Sung; assassin; mutant)
Not much has been revealed regarding the early life of the mutant known as
Scrambler. The details of his recruitment by Mr. Sinister to the group of
assassins known as the Marauders remains similarly unrevealed, but he has
participated in all of the major Marauder operations. Presumably, he
remains at large.
Sung has he mutant ability to disrupt the function of any system with his
touch, whether the system be that of a living being or a machine or a
field of energy. He must physically touch his target with his bare flesh
in order to affect it. He can control his power to vary the effects it ahs.
If he touches a living being, he Sung can cause immobilization,
unconsciousness, or death. If his victims possesses superhuman powers,
Sung can disrupt the functioning of those powers. His power works on a
1:60 time ratio. Hence, if he touches something of one second, the effect
of his power lasts for a minute (sixty seconds.)
Vertigo
(real name unrevealed, assassin, altered human)
Vertigo's true origins remain a mystery. She was a native to the Savage
Land in Antarctica when she was mutated by advanced genetic engineering by
the similarly mutated Brainchild in order to join the Savage Land Mutates.
(It has even been suggested that Vertigo's appearance was possibly quite
different prior to her transformation.) She faught the mutant team, X-Men,
alongside her teammates.
At some point, she left the Savage Land
and joined a band of assassins led by the enigmatic villain, Mr. Sinister,
under circumstances yet to be revealed. She was first seen with the
Marauders during the Morlock massacre, and has continued to be with them
ever since.
Vertigo's powers induce an extreme and
debilitating disorientation to victims' senses of balance (inducing
vertigo and possibly unconsciousness.)
