Dr Doom

A brilliant but arrogant scientist, Victor Von Doom was disfigured when one of his early experiments went horribly awry. Now -- his scarred countenance masked by a metal faceplate, his body sheathed in nigh-impenetrable armor -- Dr. Doom rules the small European country of Latveria with an iron fist. Not content with one nation, his ultimate aspiration is world domination...and the destruction of the fabled Fantastic Four!

Real name: Victor Von Doom
Occupation: Monarch, would-be world conqueror
Group affiliation: None
Base of operations: Latveria, Planet Doom (Counter-Earth)
First appearance: Fantastic Four (Vol. 1) #5 (1962)

Height: 6'2"
Weight: 225 lbs.
Eye color: Brown
Hair color: Brown

Powers: Dr. Doom possesses the ability, though not-often-used, to switch minds with others. Also, he commands a small amount of mystical knowledge.

Weapons: In his armor, Dr. Doom can lift about 2 tons. One of the world's most brilliant scientists, he has amassed a seemingly endless arsenal of high-tech weaponry. At the very least, his armor incorporates a forcefield and concussion beams.

History: Having lost his parents at a young age, Victor Von Doom was raised by gypsies in the small European county of Latveria. Through years of intense study, the determined youth amassed a wealth of scientific and mystical knowledge. His academic pursuits paid off in the form of a full scholarship to State University in New York City. At State, Doom encountered Reed Richards and Ben Grimm -- one-half of the future Fantastic Four, the greatest team of adventurers ever assembled -- and began conducting hazardous extra-dimensional experiments. Richards, in particular, represented a substantial threat to Doom's self-perceived superiority. Consequently, the two scientists became bitter rivals.

Doom's downfall proved to be his vanity, which prevented him from adjusting the schematics to one of his inventions: a trans-dimensional projection device. The machine worked perfectly...for two minutes, 37 seconds. Then, Doom experienced the end result of his pride: an explosion that scarred his face for life. Although Richards previously had pointed out his classmate's miscalculations, Doom refused to acknowledge his own culpability in the matter. Instead, he blamed Richards for the accident. It was easier for Doom to believe that Richards had sabotaged his work out of jealousy than admit to his own imperfection.

Expelled from school, Doom traveled the world swathed in bandages -- a kind of living mummy, searching for a miracle cure for his condition. Eventually, Doom discovered a village of Tibetan monks who crafted him a suit of body armor that concealed his deformity. He then returned to his homeland, Latveria, overthrowing the standing government and crowning himself king. Ruling with an iron fist and an equally strong will, Doom began to redirect the small nation's resources to help him realize his designs of world domination.

Doom's life has been shaped by three objectives: the destruction of his hated rival, Reed Richards; world domination; and the liberation of his mother's soul from the demon Mephisto's realm. He has achieved two of these aims. With the help of Dr. Strange, Master of the Mystic Arts and Earth's Sorcerer Supreme, he wrested his mother's spirit from Mephisto's grasp.

Doom joined the Resistance in its early days. He doesn't do it because he's good. He's in the Resistance because he and only he can control the world. That's why he opposes Onslaught. Doom has lost control of his country after Onslaught took over. He is now a king without a kingdom.
It can be said that he is one the REsistance's most loyal members, but when he can easily betray them if the opportunity arises.

After Onslaught was defeated Captain America wanted to make the world the way it used to be. It didn't work. Thrown into constant turmoil, te world needed a leader. Dr Doom then became the ruler of the World. At least his dream fullfilled. Still there are some secrets behind his rise to power...

Secrets which may never be revealed for Dr Doom is no longer on Earth. He is MIA since several heroes were shangaied to the future by Roma and her agents.
