Powers: Can open other dimensional “portals” allowing her to transport
herself and others between places.
Weapons: Special throwing darts that she can charge with her blink
energies. They can teleport objects, or parts of objects that they hit
depending on how much of her energy she channels into them.
History:
As with most mutants, Clarice Ferguson remembers the first time she used
her mutant ability. Unlike many she recalls waking up several hours later…in
a pool of blood. In that moment she vowed never to use her powers against
another living being.
Clarice finds herself in the company of the future core members of
Generation X. She is a shy, quiet girl at first. During their captivity,
Clarice begins to look up to Paige Guthrie due to her confident assertions
that the X-Men will come to rescue them, and she is greatly worried about
the infection of Paige's outer "husk" with the Techno-Organic Virus. When
their captor the Phalanx Harvest arrives to torment them, Clarice is
willing to use her power to end his reign of tyranny. Blink's power is
first shown here cutting Harvest into pieces by sending the other parts
somewhere else. Clarice is stopped from doing serious damage to him by the
Phalanx plant "Gregor", and subsequently escapes with the rest of the kids.
Clarice ends up being engulfed by the Phalanx. With encouragement from her
teammates, she is able to disrupt her captors and break free. Using her
powers causes her eyes to glow, and is stated to bathe her body in a warm
glow. Blink's power levels are defined more clearly when it becomes clear
that if Harvest is not stopped permanently, he will return and kill more
people. First, she uses precision slicing to remove a chunk of deck under
her friends, thus dropping them into the water, and leaving them safe. She
then displaces the entire battleship, including Harvest and unfortunately
herself.
Clarice transported the battleship to the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
This left her extremely weakened. With part of the ships hull missing the
large vessel began to sink. Harvest was unable to reach her because of all
the water pouring into the boat. With one desperate last-ditch effort
Clarice throws herself overboard and used her powers to teleport herself
from the site of the sinking vessel. Harvest sunk to the bottom of the
ocean with the ship. When she eventually regained consciousness, Clarice found herself on a
deserted island, there she was nursed back to health by an older mutant
known as Sunset Grace. The two became good friends and Clarice stayed on
the Island for a long time. All through the rise of Onslaught she lived
peacefully on the Island. Not having to worry about the world that had
scorned her for being a mutant before.
Eventually though members of the x-corps came looking for Clarice.
Onslaught wanted her unique powers for some type of special project.
During the storming of the Island Sunset Grace was killed by x-corp member
Victor Creed. Blink used her powers to flee the x-corps. She spent the
rest of her days in hiding.
It was during the start of the Skrull war that Weapon X reformed. There
goal was to capture mutants and turn them into the perfect killing
machines. Clarice was one of the mutants captured, her powers subdued
through use of a special collar. She and several other mutants were put
through terrible training, and in some case genetic alterations. All for
the sake of making their powers more efficient.
Clarice was fortunate in that she was never surgically altered like some
of the other mutants. However she was given extensive training in hand to
hand combat, and use of her powers. She was even given her trade-mark
weapon, the energy darts with harnessed her special “blink energy.” She
has spent a great deal of time held in captivity by Weapon X but her
refusal to take a life has caused her to be labeled a reject, and recently
she has been scheduled for termination. But recently events have come to
light that may be her ticket to freedom.
