| Born and raised in OKC, I've lived the midwestern life to the fullest. My creative energies would combine with being a July Leo, and gave me the desire to recreate live in one form or another, for a great many years. But if I were to try and put a finger on it, I'd have to say that the seasonal changes, country draws and hometown living of folk who felt the need to be a brother's keeper, gave me insight into the world I now share. I can recall hunting in November for the Thanksgiving turkey with my father and step-brother, Phil, using nothing but bows and arrows as fire power. Fishing at the myriad of lakes and rivers we've visited while enjoying a weekend of camping. The December snow storms that imprisoned our city in their homes, except for a few brave souls who honestly felt they could weather the storm. What's funny is, on several occassions, I was that brave soul. And on those same occassions, I discovered why we're called "brave souls." I remember Christmas being as merry as they come, for the snow made it all picture perfect year after year. Every holiday season seemed to be celebrated to the highest, and my family was sure to never miss out. As luck would have it, I survived many seasons. You were almost forced to "stop and smell the roses" as each season brought it's fullness. I really enjoyed being able to take in the country beauty that made you contemplative, and now makes me nostalgic. |

| I wanted to at least see the world if I couldn't conquer it, so I was off to San Diego, military style for eight years or so. And what an immediate difference it was to a young country boy like myself. There were ocean breezes, palm trees and beaches all within travel distance. Beautiful women that once filled magazines were now neighbors and co-workers. Paradise never seemed so real than when I first left for the Navy. I felt it necessary to sip from the fountain of youth as long as it spewed, and what a drink it has been. Life seemed so innocent in OKC, particularly compared to the California life I've lived now for almost twenty years. I've witnessed a lot of things since I moved out here, stripping away the innocence of a country boy's life. Still, I believe in a place where love overcomes evil. San Diego has always seemed like paradise to me, but I would have to attribute that to being from Oklahoma. The Navy helped me visit a great many ports of call such as Hawaii, Africa, Japan, Phillipines, Thailand and many other typical ports visited by the military. I enjoyed the scenery while in transit, but nothing compares to the great times with great friends in great places. |
