| 1. Increase our visibility both within the UU community and the larger GLBT community through advertisement, publicity, and developing a "traveling" worship service. (18 votes) 2. Energize ourselves and have fun so that we can attract more GLBT persons to our chrches. (10 votes) 3. Develop a system for addressing political issues so that we can speak with a common voice. (9 votes) 4. What's going on in other denominations? With other UU GLBT groups? We need to develop a system of networking both wihin the UU community and other denominations. (8 votes) 5. Get our act together and look at the "bigger picture" by creating linkages with other oppressed groups. (5 votes) 6. Become a support and educational resource for people who may be dealing with GLBT friends/family members or questioning their own sexuality/gender. (4 votes) |

| On a snowy evening, UU's concerned with BGLT issues met again to continue their dialogue and further narrow down their objectives. A preliminary list of 18 goals was identified. These were then condensed to 6 goals, which were voted on by the group. These 6 goals and the final vote tally are listed below. |

| GOAL 1: Improve Visibility 1. Be a traveling "Welcoming Congregation" resource 2. Establish a strong presence at Pride Parade 3. Design an Interweave flag & encourage congregations to fly it 4. Wear an Interweave symbol on nametags 5. Establish links from congregation websites to Interweave website 6. Design bulletin boards with latest on hate crimes & homophobia 7. Write an article for the Chronicle 8. Obtaine new Welcoming Congregation Posters 9. Do an ongoing interfaith program with Dignity, PFLAG, etc. 10. Do PSA's on Radio |

| GOAL 3: Political Action 1. Dump Taft - Vote Democractic 2. Get out the vote Phone Banks before elections 3. Call legislators when they do something supportive. 4. Work with Human Rights Campaign to fight DOMA. 5. Join with P-FLAG to support political action 6. Get newsletters for all churches. 7. Encourage links with our website for HRC, Log Cabin Rebulicans, Stonewall Democrats 8. The national PFLAG meeting is in Columbus this fall. Let's show up! |
| Meet the Ministers Suggestions Gleaned from the April 12th Dialogue |
| 1. Push congregations to continue welcoming congregation programs 2. Improve Interweave/GLBT visibility within congregations 3. Give ministers support (e.g. when they need to explain importance of reading Welcoming Congregation statement) 4. Interweave members should integrate into other church programs not only GLBT issues 5. Link with other oppressions -- how are they related? 6. Offer traveling workshops or sermons 7. Make UUism more visible to GLBT community - Invite friends to church 8. Place ads in GPC regarding our churches as places for Union Ceremonies 9. Partner with YAC to do a Social Justice Conference 10. Give support for working with Teens & Jr. High students 11. Educate UUs on what being "Welcoming" means 12. BE OUT - the best way to gain more acceptance is for people to know that they know GLBT persons 13. Determine way to be integrated without being fragmented 14. Integraate GLBT persons naturally (e.g. "this composer is gay") 15. Offer support to those doing GLBT positive things (e.g. letter to principal & students of Strongsville in support of their "day of silence" efforts) |
