NORTH AMERICA - SHORT INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY |
The United States has always had strong connections with Ireland and hence the Irish community have helped to develop Gaelic Games all over the country. Now Americans of all ages have the opportunity to play both Hurling and Football in many locations. The games are administered by the NAGAA and the New York GAA within the United States. New York currently fields a team in the All-Ireland football championships every year. Like London they are steadily improving. There are currently more than 100 teams in the United States.
Gaelic Games are played in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Canada currently has 10 clubs, 8 of them in Toronto.
There are no currently no clubs in Mexico. At present there are clubs in border towns such as Phoenix, Arizona and San Diego, California. Anyone wishing to develop a club in Mexico should contact the NAGAA at their website.
