Prior Weeks Ranking

Current Ranking

Team

Record

1

1

Mets

69-37

Someone better check to see if Ken Harvey has a Super Man outfit on under that Met’s uniform.  Printing playoff tickets as I type.

7

2

Pirates

68-38

One of the Power Ranking’s favorites.  Just keeps on building and never seems to be done improving this team.

4

3

ChiSox

68-38

Slugged his way to the top of the AL Central.  Will the pitching be good enough to keep him there?

2

4

Cubs

67-39

This team is as balanced as it gets.  Not a real weakness visible.

3

5

D’Backs

69-37

Taking advantage of the weak NL West.  Will he make a deal to strengthen that offense before the trade deadline?

6

6

BoSox

63-42

100+ year old, “The Rickey”, still leading the charge, however he’s got a hot team on his heals from north of the border.

8

7

Halos

59-46

Has a dog fight on its hands as the A’s have come charging back into contention.

5

8

Tigers

61-44

Lost ranking all season.  Could this be the beginning of the end?

9

9

D’Rays

61-45

If this team ever got a starting rotation it would be scary.

13

10

Athletics

54-48

Forget Next Season! This young team is making a statement that they are ready to step to the front of the AL West right now!

11

11

Jays

58-44

Is there a better 1-2-3 starting combination in the IBC?  Don’t bother to look…the answer is a definite NO!

10

12

Cards

58-47

Rumor has it……the players all went out and got drunk after the GM gave his concession speech.  Looks like another team building for next year.

15

13

Reds

51-54

That lineup is just plain awesome……Another “Power Rankings” favorite….

14

14

Royals

51-51

Barry….and …..and…….and, well it’s the Barry Bonds Show!

22

15

Phils

53-53

A little hot streak has the GM thinking “playoffs”….can this team get itself close enough to make its players believers too?

12

16

Phish

51-56

Looks like a real team is starting to form.  The new GM has brought in some nice bats and a few good arms……..he might be on to something  here!

21

17

Giants

51-55

Hanging around in 2nd place……so you could say they’re the best of the rest in the NL West.

19

18

Stros

50-56

Had one GM tuck tail and run.  The new guy seems to be eager to accept the challenge of the NL Central!

18

19

Brew Crew

49-57

Still searching for that right combination.  At least they have the sausage races to keep the fans interested.

16

20

M’s

48-58

Slowly putting the pieces together.  Will Edgar still be around when this team is ready to compete?

17

21

Dodgers

45-60

Brought in Slammin’ Sammy Sosa to lead the offense.  But will there be anyone on base for him to knock in?

23

22

Rocks

45-60

Took 2 of 3 from the Bucco’s with Terry Adams and Paul Wilson leading the way!  Who were those masked men?

20

23

O’s

44-60

An extremely young rotation, but that offense is starting to look a little more potent.

25

24

Pads

44-62

Looks like a team that could compete in 2003.   Just gotta find the missing ingredient.

26

25

Rangers

40-66

Welcome to Texas Mr. Zito!  Could be a contender in 2003.

24

26

Yanks

44-60

Snuck out of Houston just after mid-night.  Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to escape the wrath of the Texas Rangers.

30

27

Braves

42-65

No more Sammy, No more Big Unit, No more Vidro….but say HELLO to the Vladinator!

27

28

Indians

40-64

Losing the race to the winter Draft.

29

29

Spos

38-68

Winner of the “Trader Bob” award.  Nobody unpacks for long when they arrive in Montreal.

28

30

Twins

35-71

Just along for the ride in 2002 and looking to add a big bat in the draft.
