IBC Power Rankings!!!

Welcome to 4th installment of the semi-weekly IBC power rankings for the 2002 season!!!  As always, best of luck to everyone.  Some changes this week.  Finally, the Cubs have been dethroned from the top spot in the rankings.  The BoSox, Pirates, and Royals seem to be making the most noise.  The Mets made a strong move in getting Magglio which they needed to do – the Fish are making a run at them.  Some new GMs have taken over – it will be interesting to see if their teams rise or fall in the next coming weeks.  Seattle and LA should be dogging it out in their divisions, while Montreal’s new GM tries to dig themselves out of their hole.

Questions?  Comments?  Disputes over where you are ranked?  Tell us what you think and why you’re team should be ranked higher – email [email protected] – if we like what you have to say – we’ll throw in your comments in our next update.

1

Boston Red Sox

29-13

Hmmmmmmmmm…….Red hot and Rollin’ in the IBC too??  King George has gotta be pulling his hair out!

1

2

Chicago Cubs

28-15

Dropped a spot – but don’t look for these guys to go away any time soon with the way their pitching staff has performed.

3

3

New York Mets

27-17

Brought in the Mighty Maggs and just in the nick of time….needed to fill the hole that Manny left.

5

4

Arizona Diamondbacks

27-17

Can’t seem to shake those pesky Dodgers.  Pride of the NL West.  Can the ‘Backs take the IBC World Series too?

2

5

Detroit Tigers

29-14

Still hangin’ strong…..ChiSox are hot on their trail.

9

6

Chicago White  Sox

26-19

Still on the Tigers heels.  Been hurt by a shaky back end to the rotation and still looking for that late inning answer.

21

7

Tampa Bay D-Rays

25-19

Who is that Masked Man at the helm?  Making a run at October baseball.

19

8

Toronto Blue Jays

24-18

Is there a more potent 1-2 punch in the IBC?  Vlad + Helton = whole lotta hittin’ going on!

6

9

Los Angeles Dodgers

25-19

Going to have to wait and see how the new GM’s draft went….

11

10

Florida Marlins

26-18

Still hanging around, despite a suspect offense.

14

11

St. Louis Cardinals

24-19

Still in the thick of things…..but don’t look now those Pesky Pirates are coming up fast in the passing lane.

23

12

Pittsburgh Pirates

23-20

Guess this “Trader Bob” had a vision.  Only team hotter is the Royals.

13

13

S.F. Giants

22-21

Just waiting around for the D-backs to stumble.

12

14

N.Y Yankees

23-23

They say you can’t win a pennant in April……but can you lose one in May?

4

15

Oakland Athletics

21-22

Ishii is looking Fishii and dealing Maggs seems to have hurt the middle of their batting order.  Course they could still win the battle of “mediocrity” that is brewing in the AL West.

16

16

Cincinnati Reds

21-22

Sheffield has been a disappointment….Can Mulder(or the rest of the staff for that matter) stay healthy long enough for them to make a run at the Cubs?

29

17

Kansas City Royals

21-22

Barry can carry!  Hottest team in the IBC.  Could end up being a three team race in the AL Central.

8

18

Anaheim Angels

21-22

Still looking for that missing piece?  Insiders report the Halos are actively trying to put the puzzle together.

10

19

Seattle Mariners

21-22

Pat Gillick got called away on family matters…..who is going to replace him?  Isn’t it just about time for “The Edgar”!!!!

25

20

Milwaukee Brewers

21-24

Can’t quite decide if they are going to be buyers or sellers come July…..

17

21

Philadelphia Phillies

20-24

Sent the Griff a packin’, got rid of Juan Gone….need to make a move in the standings soon or risk losing sight of the leaders.

18

22

Houston Astros

20-23

Dropped Barry…dumped Brown…..looks like they are re-tooling for next season.

26

23

Baltimore Orioles

20-24

Been bitten’ by that nasty injury bug…and lookin’ for some answers at the top of their batting order.  Glanville and that .299 OBP just ain’t cuttin’ it.

24

24

San Diego Padres

19-25

Looks like he could be a seller come July….or maybe sooner.

22

25

Atlanta Braves

18-27

Johnson, Sosa, Vazquez, Vidro??????  Looks like this coach is about to get lynched.

20

26

Texas Rangers

17-27

Still within striking distance in the weak AL West.  Maybe he should get that Alou fellar in the lineup…I hear he can hit!

30

27

Colorado Rockies

16-28

Kmart Blue Light Special!!!!!!!!  Everything is for Sale and its going fast at bargain basement prices!  Going to put Wal Mart out of business.

15

28

Cleveland Indians

17-28

Well…..give the kids a year or two.  Does anyone on this team even need a razor yet?

27

29

Montreal Expos

13-31

In a deep hole, but the New GM seems to have pulled a fast one in the draft…

28

30

Minnesota Twins

11-34

…………………someone start booking the Tee Times.
